:-( Sorry to hear about James' passing. It was wonderful meeting him at TotalCon.
We regret to share that James Carpio has passed away. James was an amazingly talented game designer. I had the pleasure and privilege of getting to know him by attending Total Confusion Game Convention (TotalCon).
James was always friendly, insightful, witty, funny, and had a talent for game design. During the pandemic I loved watching his live play through of the Curse of Strahd. He had a knack for storytelling, which he routinely shared especially during industry after parties at TotalCon.
He had a passion for punk culture and rock as evidenced by his punk-centric RPG Anarchy. As a backer of his Kickstarter I had the joy of watching the documentary American HardCore with him.
He was an integral co-owner of Solarian Games where he made it possible for many great games to be created. James had a delightful laugh, inquisitive mind, and a caring heart. I will miss seeing him at conventions, hearing his thoughts about tabletop gaming, and seeing him in action as an amazingly talented game master.
My heart goes out to his wife, Mary Lindholm, and all of his family and friends. The world is worse without him.
