The new pantry site is open! Thanks Bon Secours Hampton Roads!

A new chapter in community care begins in Portsmouth!

We’re proud to officially open the new Bon Secours Healthy Food Pantry at 3600 High Street in Portsmouth, conveniently located behind the Bon Secours — Maryview Hospital emergency department.

The response from our community was incredible. Neighbors began arriving as early as 3 a.m., eager to access fresh, healthy food and nutritious essentials. Many shared how much they appreciated the new location, spacious layout and welcoming environment, reinforcing just how important this resource is for local families.

At Bon Secours, our Healthy Food Pantry is about more than providing food. It’s about creating a place where every person is treated with dignity, compassion and respect. From the moment guests walk through our doors, they are greeted with kindness and supported by an amazing team of volunteers who are dedicated to serving our community.

We invite you to help us spread the word. If you know someone who could benefit from healthy food resources or diaper assistance, please share this information. We’d also love to welcome you to visit our new space and learn more about the services available.

The new school year is right around the corner! The Portsmouth Health Department is hosting our 2026 PHD Back to School Clinic to help get your students set for day one.

-Vaccines for rising 7th & 12th Graders: Thursday, 8/20 & Friday, 8/21

Thanks to our friends at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University, City of Portsmouth, VA Government, Doctors from EVMS Family Medicine and Sentara Health who provided screening and education for blood pressure and breast cancer for the Portsmouth Public Schools Transportation Department this morning!
