Just a few more days until our symposium on Saturday! Join us for a day of local history, focusing on the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and the founding of our nation. Tickets are still available and include all four talks, a light continental breakfast, and a lunch of homemade soups! Masons from St. John's Lodge #1 Portsmouth, NH will offer tours of their beautiful early 20th century building as well!

We hope to bring on an expert in the built environment and a passionate community advocate. This is a unique opportunity for a preservation professional to steward historic properties while leading advocacy efforts that shape the future of Portsmouth’s historic landscape. This position is 20 hours a week.

😄 Visitor Services Manager
We're looking for a warm, highly organized, and dependable person to oversee aspects of the visitor experience (this includes our volunteer program, walking tours, group tours, and event rentals). This is a part-time, year‑round position, with hours concentrated April–December.

Our next History & Soup will be Weds. 9/3 at 5pm (talk begins at 5:30pm) with Dr. Barbara Ward speaking about the 20 enslaved Black men who risked their lives to request their freedom from the NH Legislature in November 1779. Two enslaved men of Jonathan Warner, Peter and Cato, signed their names to the document.

A great lecture this week at the Wentworth-Gardner Historic House.

This Friday the Wentworth-Gardner house is hosting a free lecture given by Chris Holmes, a graduate student at UNH. This lecture is the culmination of a summer internship researching the early inhabitants of the house and their relationship with the American Revolution.
