🌟 LEFCOE CLASS OF 2026 SPOTLIGHT: JAY GRANT! 🌟

As we look ahead to our Class of 2027 applicants, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on another outstanding member of the LEFCOE Class of 2026: Jay Grant!

Jay serves as the Director of Housing and Neighborhood Services for the City of Newport News, VA - Government. A proud Virginia Tech graduate (Go Hokies! 🦃), he also holds a master’s degree in Urban Planning from the University of Pennsylvania. He brings his expertise and passion for community development to his service on the boards of the Portsmouth Partnership, Virginia Housing Alliance, and Elizabeth River Trail Foundation.

For Jay, Portsmouth is more than a city—it’s family. With roots in the community dating back to the 1800s, he has a deep personal connection to Portsmouth and its residents. His commitment to revitalizing historically overlooked communities is evident in both his professional work and volunteer service.

Jay believes Portsmouth holds a unique place in Hampton Roads’ history and future, and that a strong, thriving Portsmouth means a stronger, more vibrant Hampton Roads for everyone. We’re proud to spotlight Jay and his commitment to building stronger neighborhoods, revitalizing communities, and helping shape a brighter future for our region!

Want to keep up with what’s happening in the City of Portsmouth? Here’s a quick guide to the best ways to stay in the know. Because an informed community is a stronger community.

Citizens wishing to present matters to the City Council must register with the City Clerk no later than 6:30 p.m. on the evening of the meeting. You may register earlier by contacting the City Clerk's office at 757-393-8639 or email the City Clerk at [email protected].

The Public Work Session will be held in the 6th Floor Conference Room and the City Council Meeting will be held in the City Council Chamber, located at 801 Crawford Street.
