Another Shot Heard around the World 250 Years Later.
Today 9/11/2025, since the year 2001, has been acknowledged as "911" (nine-eleven), in reference to the World Trade Center attack.
But today, most headlines, and the White House are acknowledging the assassination of Charlie Kirk. It is being called a political assassination, I call it a Christian martyrdom. The serpent has bruised the heel, but the serpent's head will be crushed.
You remember at Lexington and Concord in 1775, Emerson, in his 1837 poem, Concord Hymn, called it, "the shot heard roun the world." the shot that started the Revolutionary War. Yesterday, September 10, we lived a "shot heard around the world." Charlie Kirk was shot and killed. At Lexington and Concord, a revolutionary war was started, a physical war. In Utah, the shot heard around the world opened eyes to a spiritual war, "spiritual warfare." Charlie Kirk was on "a great battlefield of that war," college campuses.
In January 1956, Jim Elliott and four other missionaries were killed in Ecuador. The death of those missionaries spread around the world and hundreds, (probably thousands), took a stand, many becoming missionaries, many committing themselves to their Christian faith, many becoming prayer warriors, taking and making a stand for their faith. (Was that a revival?)
Watchmen, watchwomen stand your watch, check your oil, let your light shine like Charlie's. Yesterday's shot hear around the world is bring revival, not revolution. Revival makes alive again. Church be revived! Acts 3:19; Repent, then and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing, (revival), may come from the Lord. I saw a picture of Charlie and saw the light in his face and eyes, and said, "Look," and my wife said he looks like an angel. I said that is probably how Stephen looked. Stephen who was martyred in Acts 7, In Acts 7:60; Stephen cried with a loud voice, lay not this sin to their charge and when he had said this, he fell asleep. I wonder if this might have been in Charlie's heart.
An old chorus: Theres's a light shining forth, I can see it o'er the horizon. It's the army of God, preparing for war. Coming conquering victorious, O'er the army of Satan, nothing can stand, nothing can stand, before the army of God.
