Our mission is to empower adolescent girls to develop essential life skills, foster positive relationships, and cultivate resilience, using a holistic approach that nurtures their social, emotional, and physical well-being. SIS Sisters in Service Inc is a youth outreach and mentorship 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which operates on donations from organizations and individuals

Our mission is to

empower, encourage, and inspire youth to be leaders in their homes, schools, and communities by advancing their understanding of servant leadership and economic self sufficiency. Through use of education and mentorship we help youth develop tools, knowledge and skills for academic success, career readiness, and responsible citizenship


We provide programming and workshops to youth in the community (particularly middle and high school girls). Our vision is to create an environment where young girls and women can be encouraged to connect and support each other while developing specific life skills that will help empower them to be independent, confident, and self-reliant.

We know it has been a little quiet on our page, but behind the scenes SIS has been busy knee deep in programming with our amazing girls in the Girl Takes on the World mentoring program.

Today we could not let the day go by without celebrating Pi Day with a SIS twist. Instead of talking about math, our girls created their own “Feelings Pie” while learning how to name and identify their emotions and talk through how they respond when certain feelings are triggered.

Needless to say, the Feelings Pie activity was a hit.

You heard what she said, it was basically “therapy on paper.”

Moments like these remind us how powerful it is when girls are given the space to reflect, connect, and grow together.

Facebook just gave us a little happy notification and we had to share. We officially hit 3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ + followers and welcomed 8️⃣ new supporters just this past week. 🎉✨

It may seem small to some, but to us it means more eyes on our girls, more voices sharing our mission, and more community believing in the impact of mentoring. We are growing organically and intentionally, and every follow reminds us that this work matters.

This past Wednesday marked almost 3️⃣ months of Girl Takes on the World after school programming atCradock Middle Schooll, and our hearts are full. 💙

Each week, more girls continue to join through nothing but word of mouth from their peers and the incredible Cradock staff, 🤏🏽🤏🏽🤏🏽and we are so grateful for the love and support.🙌🏽

This week’s session used a simple cooking activity to celebrate the start of winter break while reinforcing real life skills. 🎯

What started as a recipe turned into teamwork, leadership, problem solving, and moments of conflict resolution that reminded us why this work matters. 🫶🏽

Growth happens in the small moments, and our girls continue to show up ready to learn and lead.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Thank you to everyone who helps make this space one where girls feel seen, supported, and empowered.

We are excited to share that SIS Sisters in Service Inc has been selected as one of the recipients of the Kindness Grant from the TDB Family Foundation.

This support allows us to expand our Girls Leading Forward peer mentoring program through a brand new initiative called the Youth Voice and Civic Kindness Collaborative.

This student led committee will bring girls together with school staff and local leaders in Hampton Roads.

Alongside this grant and our partnership with the National Youth Leadership Council’s Youth as Solutions program, we are ready to engage high school girls in meaningful leadership work that inspires them to advocate for themselves and their communities.

Through every program and partnership, SIS remains committed to building confident young women who lead with purpose service and civic engagement. We cannot wait to see what our girls create next. ✨💛

Thank you to everyone who came out to yesterday’s YLD session at Cavalier Manor Rec.

Days like yesterday remind us how powerful collaboration can be when we unite for our youth.

Big shoutout to Dr. Hayes for extending the invitation and special thanks to members of Portsmouth City Council, including Mayor Glover and Councilman Hugel, for showing up and pouring into the next generation.

To everyone who joined us… remember the importance of Restoring the Dream.

There is always hope for the future when we can see our dreams clearly and have the support to reach them.

The plates are washed, the leftovers are calling, and our girls have earned every minute of this long weekend joy.🍽️🦃🙌🏽

Our weekly Girl Takes on the World program will not be meeting tomorrow! So, enjoy every bite of your favorites and soak up all the extra love and laughter with family and friends. 🥰

When we return, we are jumping right back into the work that fills our cups. ☕️

We are excited to team up with the Youth Leadership Development program with Dr. Hayes and to welcome EVMS medical students as they launch our next Health and Wellness series with group sessions on skincare and dermatology for teens.

We’re excited to keep showing up, partnering up, and finding new ways to as we pour into our girls. 💪🏽💙✊🏽
