This Father’s Day season, we’re celebrating the dads and dad-like figures who help young people feel cared for, encouraged, and less alone.

While not everyone has (or had) a great dad, many of us can name someone who showed up for us in meaningful ways — a grandfather, uncle, older brother, coach, mentor, teacher, neighbor, or someone else who modeled care, guidance, accountability, or kindness when we needed it.

If there’s someone you’d like to honor this Father’s Day season, we invite you to support Maine Boys to Men’s Great Dads campaign with a donation in their name. We’d also love to hear your story of a dad or dad-like figure who made a positive impact in your life.

As part of our Great Dads campaign, MBTM Program Director Sarah Brajtbord Fahey is honoring her dad, Dan, and the many ways he has shaped her life.

One piece of wisdom he shared when Sarah was in high school has stayed with her ever since:

“Trust what you know. Know what you don’t know. And be brave and smart enough to ask for help.”

“There are virtually no spaces where men’s emotions are really welcome.”

That line from Jack Grenfell stuck with us.

One of the themes that came up throughout our receent panel discussion was that if we want to understand the influence of the manosphere, we have to pay attention to the needs it claims to meet.

Young men are looking for connection. They’re looking for belonging. They’re looking for spaces where they can talk about what’s going on in their lives and feel understood.

The problem is that the manosphere often takes those very real needs and funnels them toward resentment, isolation, and harmful ideas about women and the world.

In this clip, Jack talks about the vacuum that can form when boys and young men don’t have healthy places to bring their emotions, and what can happen when someone else steps in to fill that space.

The full panel recording is now available on YouTube. Link in bio.

Tonight!

The conversation around the manosphere isn’t just happening online anymore. It’s showing up in classrooms, relationships, friend groups, and communities everywhere.

So what’s drawing so many young men into these spaces? And how do we respond with curiosity, accountability, and real connection instead of panic?

Join us Thursday evening for a virtual panel discussion featuring:
• Shay Stewart-Bouley Blackgirlinmaine
• Jack Grenfell Watchful Coyote
• Farid Muhammad-Aceto
• Danny Mejia

Together, we’ll explore the messages boys and young men are encountering online, why these spaces can feel so compelling, and what healthier alternatives can look like.

This Teacher Appreciation week, we want to highlight the work of Patrick and Kristin at Shapleigh School and celebrate their tremendous care for their students.

Since participating in our Training Institute in early 2024, Kristin and Patrick have teamed up to co-facilitate our Reducing Sexism & Violence Program (RSVP®) to their 7th grade students each of the past three years. They’ve witnessed firsthand the engagement, depth of conversation, and fun that students have in participating in RSVP®, and the positive effects it has on the school community.

And they’ve done all of this on top of their normal day-to-day responsibilities at school! When we say teachers are superheroes, we mean it!

Please join us in celebrating Patrick, Kristin, and the Shapleigh School community for their commitment to creating a safer, stronger school.

If you’re a school-based employee and interested in learning how to facilitate RSVP® to your students, join us at our Training Institute in Portland on July 28-29

One week away!

The conversation around the manosphere is everywhere right now—but what are young men actually seeing online, and how is it shaping the way they see themselves and others?

Next week, our panelists will explore the online ecosystems, influencers, and messages many boys and young men are navigating today—and what adults, educators, and communities can do in response.

If you’d like some context before the panel, we recommend watching:
• Netflix’s “Inside the Manosphere”:

• BBC’s “James Blake: Men of the Manosphere”:

Jack Grenfell, known online as Watchful Coyote, is a Maine-based educator, speaker, and advocate for healthier masculinity whose work has reached a wide audience across social media.

Through storytelling and practical insight, he promotes conversations about masculinity, accountability, recovery, and healing that resonate with men and young people seeking alternatives to harmful online narratives.

Raised in rural Midcoast Maine, Jack’s own experiences with violence, addiction, and recovery inform the authenticity of his work. He has been public about harms he caused earlier in life, using his platform to model accountability, honesty, and the possibility of change. He also works directly with other men to examine harm they have caused, take responsibility, and build healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

If you’re trying to understand the full picture—including the hard parts—this conversation is for you.

Last month, we brought our Reducing Sexism & Violence Program (RSVP®) to student athletes at the University of Maine at Fort Kent.

Across two sessions, 50+ athletes showed up ready to engage. Together, we unpacked gender norms, explored consent, and worked through real-life scenarios that don’t always have easy answers.

One moment that stayed with us:
A group of students kept the conversation going for 20+ minutes after the session ended—digging into complex questions about relationships, culture, and consent.

That’s part of what makes this work so important at the college level—creating space for honest, nuanced conversations at a time when students are actively shaping their values and relationships.

We’re grateful to the UMFK team for making this possible.

If you’re part of a college or university and want to bring programming like this to your campus, we’d love to connect!

Farid is a natural bodybuilder and rising fitness creator sharing his journey in the online fitness space.

He recently became the youngest athlete to earn Natural IFBB Pro status, while building a growing audience through content focused on discipline and training.

We’re excited to have Farid join our upcoming virtual panel discussion, “Inside the Manosphere”.

As conversations grow around the messages boys and young men encounter online, Farid brings perspective from within the world many young men first enter—self-improvement, fitness, and confidence-building content.

His voice helps us better understand how those spaces can shape identity, expectations, and sense of self.

If you’re trying to understand what young men are actually seeing—and why it sticks, this conversation is for you.

Many in our community know Danny as former Program Director at Maine Boys to Men, where he helped build curriculum and facilitate programming with thousands of youth and adults across Maine.

Today, Danny works with Cumberland County Public Health, focusing on prevention, protective factors, and supporting some of our community’s most vulnerable young people. He also facilitates a Domestic Violence Intervention Program for men and leads emotional wellbeing retreats for teenagers with the organization Valo.

We’re honored to have Danny join our upcoming virtual panel discussion, Inside the Manosphere.

As conversations grow around the messages boys and young men encounter online, Danny brings valuable on-the-ground perspective from years of working directly with youth.
