Our Story

Triangle Lodge has been a landmark in the greater Portland community since 1762. We exist to help men become a better version of themselves, support our community, and work toward the betterment of mankind. In 1762, we were chartered as Falmouth Lodge - before Portland was a city, Maine was a State, or the United States... existed. What we know now as Portland was all Falmouth, in the province of Massachusetts Bay.

  • In 1769 we opened our Lodge for the first time. We met in taverns and private homes.

  • In 1796 we changed our name to Portland Lodge, and joined the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts. An act affixed to our charter by Paul Revere.

  • In 1806 and 1855, two more Lodges sprouted in Portland: Ancient Land Mark Lodge and Atlantic Lodge.
