Mobility For Kids strives to bring Pumper Cars to every child at school, home and therapy.

By providing access in these three settings, children grow stronger, faster and happier.

Movement is more than just activity—it can be a powerful tool for learning, regulation, and independence.

This semester-long project at Storm Lake Elementary explored how Pumper Car vehicles support students in special education settings. Teachers observed improvements in engagement, transitions, directional awareness, waiting skills, and independent movement, showing that purposeful movement can have a meaningful impact both inside and outside the classroom.

When students are given opportunities to move in ways that support their unique needs, the benefits can extend far beyond physical activity.

What looks like play is actually powerful therapy in motion. While kids think they’re just having fun while on the Pumper Car® ride-on vehicle™ they’re actually getting full-body workouts. These devices require children to use a push-pull movement with their arms, legs, and core muscles. Children of almost all abilities, including those with special needs such as autism, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome, love to ride these devices. Schools have found that Pumper Car vehicles are effective in promoting exercise and inclusion.

Sometimes, it’s an easy decision to make a donation to a good cause. That was the case for Rory Tyler, Manager of Point S Creswell Tire & Auto Service. He didn’t hesitate when asked to donate two Pumper Car® vehicles to the elementary schools in his area.

“For the kids who might have some special needs, if we can help them move forward, we are all for that,” says Tyler.

Thanks to a donation from the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation, The Pumper Car® vehicles are bringing mobility, confidence, and joy to children across multiple schools in the Salt Lake City School District.

Most of this gift was used to purchase 50 Pumper Car vehicles for nine elementary schools, these schools include: Backman, Edison, Escalante, Franklin, Mountain View, Newman, North Star, Parkview, and Rose Park.

The benefits of this gift from the Miller Family Foundation will have a lasting impact at all of the recipient institutions. A teacher at Parkview Elementary summed up the positive feelings from all those involved by saying, “This is the coolest thing ever. The kids are excited to ride them and get exercise. We are truly grateful. Thank you so much!”

Students in the Silver Falls School District were thrilled to have two new Pumper Car® vehicles delivered to their school in September 2025.

This is the result of a generous donation by the Silverton’s Les Schwab Tire Center to the district through the Help Kids Drive to Success program.

Joseph Tricarico, Assistant Manager of Silverton’s Les Schwab store, staited, “We believe in giving back to the
community and one of the things at the top of our list is to give to schools. When we were approached about
the idea to donate these Pumper Car devices, it was an easy decision.”

A special thanks to Les Schwab for helping Portland Public Schools’ students Drive To Success!

Five Les Schwab Tire Centers in the Portland metro area, including those on NE Columbia Boulevard and NE 82nd Avenue, as well as in Parkrose, and St. Johns got together and decided to give the inaugural gift of seven Pumper Car vehicles to the district. Their company motto is, “Doing the Right Thing Since 1952.” They see that providing help to the schools is one of the best ways to give back to the community.

Ryan Foster from of the Les Schwab Tire Center on Columbia Boulevard presented the Pumper Car vehicles to Dr. Jenny Withycombe from Portland Public Schools.
