Train enthusiasts (and you too!) might be excited to hear that the Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 steam locomotive arrived in Cheyenne, WY earlier today wrapping up the first half of its historic journey across the United States in celebration of America's 250th. Fully restored, it is the world's largest operating steam locomotive. Sadly it will not be making a stop in the Pacific Northwest.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Oregon!

Today we celebrate Oregon’s birthday—and the people, places, and stories that shaped our state.

From early service members to those who have served in more recent generations, Oregon’s military history is deeply woven into who we are. The uniforms, equipment, letters, and memories preserved at the museum all tell a larger story of service, sacrifice, and community.

At Oregon Military Museum Project, we’re proud to help preserve these stories and make them accessible to everyone—because Oregon’s history isn’t just something to remember, it’s something to share.

Happy birthday to the state we call home. 💚
