The Hanley Center supports the transformation of health and healthcare through building a culture of greater collaboration.

The Hanley Center for Health Leadership & Education is nonprofit, independent, statewide organization dedicated to supporting the transformation of Maine’s health and healthcare sectors. We achieve this mission by:
- Preparing individuals to be more effective leaders through programs such as the Health Leadership Development program and the Physician Executive Leadership Instutute
- Engaging stak

eholders to address complex issues that require collaborative solutions. In recent years these initiatives have helped to build support for Maine's statewide nonprofit electronic information exchange (HealthInfoNet), to assist behavioral health providers in their efforts to acquire electronic medical records and share clinical information (with patient consent) with primary care practitioners; and to better align the efforts of organizations across Maine that are working to reduce youth obesity.

We are proud to offer our Rural Health Leadership Development course—a tuition-free leadership program made possible through the generous support of the Maine Health Access Foundation (MeHAF).

Designed for emerging leaders in mental health and addiction services, assisted living and long-term care, and other health related safety net organizations, this program provides the opportunity to learn alongside a cohort of peers who share a commitment to serving Maine's communities.

Participants will explore practical leadership strategies through five interactive sessions:

• Exploring Our Leadership Challenge

• Leading Team Performance & Collaboration

• Coaching & Motivating Others

• Influence & Advocacy

• Leading the Enterprise

Through expert faculty, guest speakers, discussion, reflection, and hands-on application, you'll leave with practical tools to strengthen your leadership and your organization.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Patricia A. Bergeron, whose dedication, kindness, and steadfast leadership helped shape both the Maine Medical Association and the Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership & Education.

Patty devoted 41 years to supporting Maine's physician community and was instrumental in the formation of the Daniel Hanley Center. She later served on our Board of Directors for ten years, bringing thoughtful guidance, unwavering commitment, and a deep appreciation for Dr. Daniel Hanley's vision of developing leaders to strengthen healthcare in Maine.

Those who had the privilege of working alongside Patty will remember her warm spirit, tireless dedication, and the familiar question she often asked during board meetings: "Well, what would Dr. Dan say?" That simple phrase reflected her enduring commitment to the values and mission that continue to guide our work today.

We are profoundly grateful for Patty's many contributions and the lasting impact she made on our organization and the broader healthcare community. Her legacy lives on in the leaders we serve and the mission she helped build.

Our thoughts are with Patty's family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. 💙
