Our 42nd Avenue is a community-driven economic development program in Northeast Portland, Oregon. It

Northeast 42nd Avenue is a business district in Northeast Portland, Oregon. The district rests at the confluence of three different neighborhoods — Beaumont-Wilshire, Concordia and Cully. For years, the people of the area have been working to improve 42nd Avenue as a neighborhood-serving commercial district, and community efforts have begun to yield positive results. In October of 2011, the Portla

nd Development Commission announced the launch of the Neighborhood Prosperity Initiative, a program to boost the vitality of neighborhood business districts. 42nd Avenue was selected as a potential participant. Our 42nd Avenue has been formed to help guide the district’s participation in this program. The group is constituted of members from all corners of the community, and is open to anyone who’d like to participate. Its objective is to foster a prosperous, equitable and community-serving commercial district on 42nd Avenue.

We are so lucky to have the cutest woman-owned bakery, , here in the district! 🥐

This is the perfect place to grab something quick for breakfast or lunch while exploring the neighborhood on the weekends. They offer a delightful array of pastries, coffee, and sandwiches Thurs-Sun for window service only, BUT, you can also order online for pickup.

We recommend the sandwiches, which are served on fresh, buttery English muffins made in-house by owner Julie Barrette.🤤

Raven’s Welcome

Located in front of the Mamook Tokatee apartment building on NE 42nd Ave.

Unveiled by in 2024 as one of the first planned public art pieces aimed at enhancing the city’s connection to Native heritage and creating spaces for healing and transformation.

“Raven will join the active call of Cully neighbors, businesses, community organizations, the City of Portland, and allies to join together in community and good stewardship of the Rivers, Land, and Air to benefit all.” - Sculptor of Raven’s Welcome, artist, Terresa White.

We’re really proud of the way this community shows up for one another, today and every day. ❤️

Did you know there’s a David Bowie mural on 42nd off Prescott? You can find it right behind

The mural (done by the talented Ashley Montague in 2020) portrays Bowie as the Goblin King from Jim Henson’s 1986 movie, Labyrinth.

Tomorrow, (1/8) would have been Bowie’s 79th birthday. 🕊️

If you’re on a stroll nearby, put on some Bowie & check this cool mural out. 👨‍🎤 🎧

The Holidays are officially around the corner and with our vulnerable communities feeling even more in need this year, we collaborated with our friends at Safe Blocks and dedicated community members to distribute food boxes, winter essentials, and gifts for kids to the mobile home communities throughout the Cully neighborhood.

This effort was made possible by the Reimagining Justice in Cully program. We are so grateful to be able to bring folks some joy and relief in these uncertain times.

Thank you to our many volunteers including the 5th & Alder WaFd Bank team and special thanks to Sheridan Fruit Co. () for packing our food boxes.
