What is the summer youth program at Brooklyn Park? It is a free 4 days per week drop-in program for youth (ages 2-17) and their families.

The Friends of Brooklyn Park Summer Youth Program purpose is to engage youth in healthy games, activities, and crafts; to provide guidance and a safe place for children to learn and explore their interests; to teach them the value of community. It had been a part of the Brooklyn community for over 40 years. Normally starting mid-June and ending late August; the program has been headed by Mr Craig

Montag for most of that time. He has guided and engaged youth in physical and mentally challenging activities. Many arts and crafts created, tournaments held, and lessons taught to the kids of the value of, and respect for community. This valuable program used to be funded and organized by the Portland Park and Rec (PPR). In 2017 due to budget cuts PPR decided to end the program. Brooklyn wanted the program to continue. The community started Friends of Brooklyn Park to organize all the coordination with PPR and the community funds the program.

You can bet on the Brooklyn Park Summer Youth Program being around for a long time...as long as you bring your redeemable cans and bottles to the Shack this Saturday, April 25th.

We will be there 10am-noon and have blue bags for collection. Or you can message us for porch pickup.

Join your neighbors in showing support for the Brooklyn Park Summer Program with one of our new yard signs. You may have seen these up around the neighborhood and now you can have one for your home. Contact us to pick up a sign for a suggested $10-20 donation.

Tickets on sale now for the Spring Silent Auction. Tickets are $10 each and include admission for one person (kids under age 2 admitted free). Enjoy the full program with access to all main activities. Includes delicious pizza from Meta Pizza, a drink, and other bites. Event is alcohol-free. All proceeds will fund our Summer Youth Program at Brooklyn Park.
