What is the summer youth program at Brooklyn Park? It is a free 4 days per week drop-in program for youth (ages 2-17) and their families.

The Friends of Brooklyn Park Summer Youth Program purpose is to engage youth in healthy games, activities, and crafts; to provide guidance and a safe place for children to learn and explore their interests; to teach them the value of community. It had been a part of the Brooklyn community for over 40 years. Normally starting mid-June and ending late August; the program has been headed by Mr Craig

Montag for most of that time. He has guided and engaged youth in physical and mentally challenging activities. Many arts and crafts created, tournaments held, and lessons taught to the kids of the value of, and respect for community. This valuable program used to be funded and organized by the Portland Park and Rec (PPR). In 2017 due to budget cuts PPR decided to end the program. Brooklyn wanted the program to continue. The community started Friends of Brooklyn Park to organize all the coordination with PPR and the community funds the program.

Kicking off week 2 of the Summer Youth Program with some great sunny weather! Will the waterslide be up? You'll just have to come to the park to find out! Either way, the famous "Brooklyn Breeze" keeps the top of the hill cool all summer long, and The Shack is full of summer fun, rain or shine. Last week was filled with games, ping pong, painting, activities, and all sorts of things to keep your analog summer hopping.

This week we're gathering donations for our Community Rummage Sale on Saturday, June 27th, benefiting Friends of Brooklyn Park and the Summer Youth Program. You can drop off donations any time the Summer Youth Program is open this week, or contact us to pick up your donations. All proceeds go toward supporting the park program, which is 100% community funded. We'll be in the parking lot next to Shwop from 9a-3p. We're also looking for volunteers to help day-of, drop us a line if you can help out for an hour or two!

Join us for opening day of the Summer Youth Program at Brooklyn Park on Monday! It's going to be a hot one, stay cool by going down the WATERSLIDE! Bring your friends, bring a towel, kick off your summer by making some excellent memories. Top of the hill, 1-9 p.m., Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays all summer long.

You can bet on the Brooklyn Park Summer Youth Program being around for a long time...as long as you bring your redeemable cans and bottles to the Shack this Saturday, April 25th.

We will be there 10am-noon and have blue bags for collection. Or you can message us for porch pickup.

Join your neighbors in showing support for the Brooklyn Park Summer Program with one of our new yard signs. You may have seen these up around the neighborhood and now you can have one for your home. Contact us to pick up a sign for a suggested $10-20 donation.

Tickets on sale now for the Spring Silent Auction. Tickets are $10 each and include admission for one person (kids under age 2 admitted free). Enjoy the full program with access to all main activities. Includes delicious pizza from Meta Pizza, a drink, and other bites. Event is alcohol-free. All proceeds will fund our Summer Youth Program at Brooklyn Park.
