September: Breakin Portland, Funk, Rueda & More. September is here, and there’s a lot happening! I’m especially excited to finally share that tickets are now on sale for Breakin Portland, my new dance theater production premiering in October. Before then, there are plenty of ways to get moving—from tonight’s Casino Friday and our weekly Funk class to live music, workshops, and other great happenings around town. Hope to see you out there!

West African Drumming Workshop with Mapathé Diop 🌍🪘

Keys, Beats, Bars is honored to welcome back Mapathé Diop, a master drummer from Dakar, Senegal, for a special West African drumming workshop in our space.

While in Oregon, Mapathé will also be working with young men in carceral facilities, sharing rhythm, culture, and creative expression through our core programming. This work—bringing music into spaces where it’s needed most—is at the heart of what we do at Keys, Beats, Bars.

Join us for a hands-on introduction to Senegalese sabar drumming, a powerful tradition played with one stick and one hand. All skill levels welcome and drums provided.
