All New Sweden members, new and old, are invited and encouraged to gather for our annual membership dinner and meeting. This is a potluck (bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share) and New Sweden will provide ham, potatoes, coffee, and punch.

After dinner and a short business meeting, David Slater and friends from Floorball Club, will join us to talk about this exceptionally popular sport in Sweden. Sweden is considered the birthplace of the sport and now it's one of the fastest growing sports in the US behind pickleball.

When: Sunday, March 29; 2-4pm
Location: West Hills Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 8470 SW Oleson Road, Portland, OR 97233

To help us with planning, please RSVP. Visit our website: www.newsweden.org under “Events” (and you’ll also find a link to volunteer - we’d love help!).

We hope to see you there!

This week New Sweden hosted the Nordic Coffee hour at Nordic NW. Ahead of our coffee hour on Tuesday, several of our members gathered Sunday to bake - thank you Susan and Dan Schlessinger for hosting us in your lovely home and helping us with both events, and Beth Burczak for organizing the baking! Our 50 or so guests who joined us for fika got to enjoy some authentic Swedish baked goodies. Happy we could combine the two - a win-win for those who enjoyed the treats at both of these gatherings!

Thank you to all our bakers and event contributers: Kristi Gustafson, Sue Graham, Kathy Wilske, Elaine Meis, and Karen Bloom and sister Jean Poling, Beth Johnson (Joel), Eva Moore, and Christie Hogueisson and granddaughter Annie.

Last weekend we danced out Christmas, a tradition in Sweden. On St Knut’s Day, together with Vasa Youth Group Swedish Dancers and Swedish School in Portland, this year’s julgransplundring was so quaint and cozy. Thank you to all who volunteered and participated!

❤️🎄🐐A huge THANK YOU goes to New Sweden's Christmas Goat Market Planning Committee, a team of volunteers who, for the last year, have been planning and working out the many details that make this multi-faceted Nordic event a huge success. The Committee is backed up by a host of volunteers that ensure the event runs smoothly. Many, many thanks to all the volunteers who gave their time to create and implement the Christmas Goat Market.
