Orion & RJ and Captain Chris Hutchinson and crew take the early lead in the Grand Slam with a 553.6 pounder (guts included) on the final day of the Bailey Island Tuna Tournament!

An abbreviated tournament and a tough weather day on Wednesday certainly led to a diminished catch count this week. Next week is looking better and the action should really heat up with the start of the Casco Bay Bluefin Bonanza on Sunday!

Registration for the 2026 Gulf of Maine Grand Slam has now officially closed and the roster is set! Rounding out our roster for 2026, please welcome four additional boats and crews with a 50/50 split between returning competitors and newcomers!

Rolling Stone - Capt. Alan Dugas

Rolling Stone has been with us since the beginning, will the 3rd time be the charm this season? Captain Alan Dugas and crew had some strong tournament showings last year and have proven they can get hot at the right time in the past. We'll see if they can keep the good times rolling this year in their quest for the Grand Slam title!

Sam & Andrew - Capt. Adam Armstrong

Sam & Andrew are back for the 2nd year in a row, taking their shot to be crowned the Grand Slam Champ. Captain Adam Armstrong and his family crew should never be counted out as they have proven time and again to be in the mix when the time comes. A fast start may be all this boat needs to get on a roll, and ride it right into September!

Eel to Reel - Capt. Greg Blackler

First time entrant into the Grand Slam, Captain Greg Blackler and crew aboard the Eel to Reel will be looking to come out and make a statement right out of the gate. Captain Greg and his crew put many hours in on the water and are routinely amongst the action. A strong first showing in their Grand Slam debut should come as no surprise to anyone!

Dad's Crew - Capt. Colin Yentsch

Another first time entrant, and our final entry of the 2026 Grand Slam, Dad's Crew captained by Colin Yentsch should not be taken lightly this summer! An impressive 2nd place finish in the cumulative category in the 2025 Boothbay Harbor Tuna Challenge proves that Captain Colin and crew know how to get it done and consistently stay on the fish.

Stay tuned for a couple more announcements to make before the action starts on Wednesday, July 22nd for their 3rd running of the Gulf of Maine Grand Slam!

We have a couple more boats to announce as we countdown to our registration deadline on Saturday the 18th at 3pm! Please welcome returning Grand Slam competitors K & C II and Orion & RJ!

K & C II - Capt. Scott Smith

Capt. Scott Smith and the crew of the K & C II are back for their second attempt at the Grand Slam. A strong showing in their 1st year sets them up well for continued success on their second go around. No matter what, K & C II always keeps things interesting whether it’s on the tuna grounds or steaming around Casco Bay, they are always one to keep an eye on!

Orion & RJ - Capt. Chris Hutchinson

Capt. Chris Hutchinson is back for a second year, this time with a new boat ready to make its presence known throughout the summer. No matter what boat Capt. Chris and crew fish on, they have proven they can bring fish to the scales on a regular basis over the past few years. Will a new boat lead to continued success and more in 2026?
