We're considering revitalizing the Hacking Social Impact unconference that Social Venture Society founded / hosted, in either Salt Lake or Portland, or both.

HSI is for geeks, founders, philanthropists, volunteers, business owners, nonprofit people, investment folks, and all kinds of general do-gooders. We had a great run of 3 years (2012, 2013, 2015), and made a good effort the 4th year (2016), but that 4th unconference was not at capacity so we took a break from it last year.

With that said, Hacking Social Impact has always been an AWESOME energetic experience whether it resulted in a large turnout or smaller gathering.

Did you attend any of the HSI unconferences, help organize / volunteer, etc. or hear about it? Put a vote of Yay or Nay here, and stay tuned one way or the other.

Parking is in the garage beneath the Union Bank Building on 707 SW Washington St (enter through the Broadway entrance, between Stark and Washington). Take the elevator up to the plaza (PL) and look for elevator codes to go up to the 11th floor. If you're walking there, use the green elevator entrance on Washington St and look for elevator codes to go up to the 11th floor.

Monday, December 5th - 5:00 - 8:00 pm-
evening kickoff party at NedSpace with drinks, bites, fun! Pam Abrahamsson of PRA Public Relations will speak on 'Being a Social Impact Rock Star'. Jacen Green of Portland State Impact Entrepreneurs and Kate Rood of Beneficial State Foundation will guide a learning exercise on impact investing, alongside a special video showcase of 10 exciting social impact projects around the world, and an inspiring "state of the union" on impact investing by Social Venture Society's founder, Carolynn Duncan.

Tuesday, December 6th - 8 am to 5 pm -
all day unconference at Portland Radio Project / New Day Theater, with early coffee and breakfast bites, lunch, and snacks. Workshops and discussions taught by community members in an open-format, topics drawn from guerilla marketing, impact metrics, professional development within social impact sector, finance 101, investing frameworks, entrepreneurship, marketing & launching new initiatives and products, collaborating with government, using social media, video and technology to tell a story, and more.
