Wobbly Wobbly is a multi disciplinary performance company in Portland, OR. Wobbly is and is not dance depending on the day and which of us you ask, but we move.

Based on improvisation, authenticity and a touch of Butoh, Wobbly is the unavoidable exploration of the body weathered by life. With relentless fascination we still move. Sometimes small and caught on film. Sometimes bigger, outdoors and wild. Wobbly is a way of life, an expression of the belief that disability is a natural variation of the human form and in this variation there is art. With immer

sive environments, by engaging the senses, Wobbly invites the viewer to step into new worlds of possibility.

Wobbly has been quietly working hard for the last 10 weeks choreographing for an original rock opera. Written, designed and performed by the students at PHAME!

Dark poetry. Heartbreak. A solitary rose, a fairy guide, and a quest.

Join PHAME for The Poet's Shadow, opening Friday, August 23 at the Hampton Opera Center. Tickets on sale now at www.phamepdx.org/poet

This world premiere rock opera features artists with developmental disabilities at every step of the process, including writing the libretto, composing the musical themes, designing the costumes and set design art, and performing on the stage. The opera is a collaboration with our friends at Portland Opera, and also partners with Wobbly Dance and Portland Youth Philharmonic.

Thanks to Ian Anderson-Priddy for the animation. Ian's beautiful animations incorporate original artwork by PHAME artists and will be projected onto the stage. See the animation up close—and hear more of this excellent music—at the show. You won't want to miss it.

Wobbly has been fervently, joyfully working on a new project in collaboration with Phame Academy, an arts school for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. We have been hired to create the choreography for an entire Rock Opera called, “The Poet’s Shadow.” Entirely student written, The Poet’s Shadow is 17 Arias worth of dark fantasy, an emotional journey for the whole family (age 5 and up). Music is performed by Tess Raunig, Phame’s renowned choir, Phame’s iPad ensemble and much much more. Costume design by Liliane Hunt. The show opens August 23rd and runs for two weekends through August 31st. Tickets on sale now!

PHAME is a school of the arts and performance.  Our classes range from musical theatre to song writing, from digital photography to poetry.  Our performance program puts students in front of audiences in Portland and beyond.

Looking for the right person(s) to join our team of bad-ass PCAs (Personal Care Assistants).

This is a physically demanding job, that requires regular lifting of a human being (70lb). Must also be able to squat, reach, bend, and walk for long distances. This would be a fantastic job for anyone with a regular physical/body practice, someone who knows how to organize their body to be able to safely lift another. Dancers, contact improvisers, yoga and Pilates students/teachers, swimmers, runners, acrobats, retired gymnasts are all encouraged to apply!

Besides lifting for transfers, you will also be providing personal care that includes dressing, showering, toileting and grooming. Other duties include house chores, cooking, and accompanying us everywhere we go. We do have a dog and a cat so you have to be comfortable around pets.

Other Requirements:
Driver’s License and safe driving record
Pass a Background Check
Ability to follow directions
Clear communicator
Loves details
Can think and plan several steps ahead
Loves to organize
Takes pride in work
Understands that this is a serious job with serious life/health consequences if you don’t come to work
Willing to travel/work in the St. Johns neighborhood

$14.65 an hour with health insurance and vacation time. Right now we are looking for 1-2 people with a flexible weekly schedule. We particularly need someone that can work weekend. Shifts range in hours and are between 6am-11pm 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Although we hire and train ourselves, the payroll is through the state. Great job for self-employed individuals needing extra income or for students whose classes are almost all online.

About us:
We are 2 artists, dancers, performers, filmmakers, disability activists. We are married and have a small house in St. Johns with a garden and a dog and a cat. We are disabled and use powerchairs full time. We make strange and wonderful art. We have a performance and film company. We have busy and active lives. We travel. We cook...a lot. We like to laugh. We are pretty chill people and don’t like drama.
