Korean American Coalition - Oregon

Korean American Coalition - Oregon The Korean American Coalition Oregon Chapter (KAC Oregon) was founded in July 2014 to cultivate a vibrant Korean American community in Oregon.

The Korean American Coalition (KAC) is a national non-profit, non-partisan community advocacy organization founded in Los Angeles in 1983. There are 8 chapters currently operating in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles (National Headquarter), Seattle, Washington DC, and now in Portland. What makes us unique is that we represent the interests of all generations of Korean Americans including adopt

ees and those of mixed heritage. We work to bring out the best of 1.5 and 2nd generation’s potential and support them to become capable leaders and powerful voices in the communities in which they live. We work hand-in-hand with existing Korean American community organizations as well as other community organizations and governmental agencies. KAC Oregon started in July 2014 with a mission to foster a strong Korean American community in Oregon by promoting Korean American participation in civic, legislative and community affairs through advocacy, community service, leadership development and cultural education.

We’re back with our monthly socials! For April, we’re heading to Yumee Katsu (.pdx) in Beaverton.

Originally from Seoul, Yumee specializes in authentic Korean-style tonkatsu and has been a local favorite since opening its doors last year. We’ve reserved space for 20 guests and will be providing small bites for the table to share. We hope to see you there!

RSVP by Monday, April 13. Link in bio!

Today, we joined various members of the Korean community and other businesses and orgs from the wider AAPI community to meet with ’s office to share our thoughts and recommendations around the barriers of being AAPI-owned businesses in Oregon. Some topics that came up included COBID, access to funding and resources and safety. We are excited for this opportunity to connect with Governor Kotek and are looking forward to continue these conversations and finding solutions moving forward.

Thank you to Jenny Kim and Greg Caldwell for bringing the following Korean community members and organizations for together and thank you to everyone who joined us today:

Happy Korean American Day! 🇰🇷✨

Back in 2024, we celebrated the proclamation of January 13 as Korean American Day in Multnomah County, and today, we’re thrilled to continue honoring this important day year after year to commemorate the first Koreans who immigrated to the US 120+ years ago.

Let’s continue to come together to celebrate the incredible accomplishments, resilience, and contributions of our incredible Korean American community here and beyond. Your stories, your voices, and your impact shape the fabric of our nation.

Here’s to celebrating the past, present, and future! 🙌

What an incredible evening we had at for our first ever prix fixe social! Chef and the Masu team curated a special evening for our KAC Oregon members from a one-of-a-kind menu to special dishes and even sharing the story of what makes Masu so special.

We had limited seating so we weren’t able to accommodate everyone but are looking forward to hosting more events like this in the future so stay tuned and thanks again to Chef Tommy and the team! If you haven’t been yet, we recommend you check them out for lunch or dinner!
