★ September Events ★

And just like that, summer is almost over and we’re already preparing to welcome autumn here soon. We have some fun events this month with ✨Con Cariño✨ coming back with another amazing closet sale, a re-run of our trinket swap at cafe, the closeout of Friends of Trees summer workshop series, and we’re back at SUN RICE for a special mid-autumn festival celebration in collaboration with Annam VL and HeyDay | Bánh Shop! Keep an eye out for event flyers with more information throughout the month.

As always, we have a month full of club meetings! See something you’re curious about? Come join us to learn something new and meet new friends! All clubs are completely free to join.

Hi friends!

We’ll be resting this weekend, or running Hood to Coast we should say 😏 No rest shall be had!

With that being said, we will not be hosting any events.

★ Craft Club (All Ages) ★

Join us Tuesday, September 1st, for Craft Club with Morgan!

We’ll be making beaded friendship bracelets! Morgan has you covered with all the supplies you’ll need!

Suggested $10 donation via Venmo or cash at the event to help cover materials and keep our club thriving.

Being a friend and make each other a beautiful little keepsake.

★ Donate to Support Families Impacted by ICE ★

Hello friends,

We’re teaming up with Be Loved Bloc and Common Fire to raise awareness, and funds, for families impacted by ICE. As they’ve put it best, in times like these, we must come together to look out for one another.

For the next month, we’re asking you to consider making a donation to this incredible cause. Every little bit goes a long way. Funds raised will be used to purchase meat, dairy, produce, culturally specific foods, and other essential groceries for families that are unable to leave their homes, go to work for fear of detainment, or worse.

To make a donation, you can Venmo (or follow the link in our bio). Be sure to leave a 💙 emoji in your donation description so that we can track the funds raised as we climb towards our goal of $2,000.

On October 3rd, and as the culmination to all of these efforts, we will be hosting a Soup & Mutual Aid Social event: Friends Share the Harvest! At that event, you will be able to participate in Care Kit building, which will also be given to impacted families, while immersing yourself and learning about other various mutual aid groups around town.

Our Portland community means so much to us, and we appreciate you all immensely for considering donating and participating.

★ Photography Club! ★

Whether you’re an expert photographer or new to the world of film or digital media, Friends Share Photography is the club for you! We’re welcoming photographers of all skill levels and all kinds (film, digital, even your smart phone) to come join us in a monthly exploration of new prompts, educational workshops, tips, tricks, and most importantly, community.

Last month our club members were given the prompt: Create a cyanotype or use blue as your guide!

We’ve had a month to explore our interpretations of that prompt, and everyone will be sharing their work with the group this next Wednesday, August 26th! If you’re new and will be joining us, we will debrief themes and questions from our last meeting, discuss everyone’s work from this past month, and get into the next prompt!

We emphasize accessibility and encourage any and all questions. This is a space for us to all learn from each other, and we are so excited to see what we can all create together. So bring whatever camera you’d like to work with—we’re so excited to see you on Wednesday!

Note: Usually we meet on the last Thursdays, however, due to scheduling conflicts with our Hood to Coast team, we are meeting on Wednesday this month!

★ Open Decks & Vinyl Trade ★

Join us this Sunday at Ca Phê from 10am to 2pm for Open Decks & Vinyl Trade of the year.

Sign up in person to spin a casual 15-minute vinyl set, open to all skill levels. Whether you’re an experienced DJ or just curious, come get familiar with the gear.

Bren will be on hand to answer questions and offer tips. We’re here to learn from one another, build community, and share the love of music.

It is all about trading within community. This is not a vinyl swap meet, and there will be no vendors.

If you’ve got records that haven’t been spun in a while, bring them along to trade with your peers, or add and take from the community crate.

Come hang out over coffee, bánh mì, vinyl, and great conversation!

★ Friday Night MTG! ★

We’re back with another Friday evening of Magic: The Gathering (Casual Commander)!

Bring your singles. Jeremy Hoover is back and will be running their MTG pop-up where you can purchase and/or trade to get those cards that you ve been looking for!

Bring your pod or hop into a new one! All skill levels are welcome, whether you’re a seasoned planeswalker or brand new to the game. We’re here to connect, play, and have fun.

Snacks and beverages will be available for purchase! As always, we’ll be raffling boosters and other MTG goodies throughout the night (you’ll receive one ticket for every $3 spent).

★ Scenes from Photography Club ★

Last month, our Photography Club Leader, bailey (baylea) lemkau, led us in a wonderful cyanotype workshop.

It was a joy watching our members create beautiful works of art using X-rays, leaves, buttons, and more, all with the help of our greatest light source: the sun!

If you’d like to join Photography Club, come on by for our next session on Wednesday, August 26th.

★ Better Nights! ★

Another first in the books, we’re hosting Better Nights with our friends at Better Days Cafe!

Their homies are going to be cheffing Vietnamese / Cambodian BBQ skewers and street food outside, the Friends Share crew will be serving up some tasty bevs, our DJs GABO , franco, yoitsvo are throwing on some funky disco & house vinyls for us all night to vibe out! And if that all wasn’t already so fun and so cool, we have Eryn and Tony Tellez both popping up with custom flash tattoos for you to collect some new ink!

We love building this community and seeing everyone come together to genuinely connect and make new friends is why we do what we do. So put it in your calendars to stop by and stay awhile!

Come eat some great food, hang out with all your friends, and party with us!
