Halloween Puppet Project: The Cask of Amontillado
This year Halloween falls on a Saturday, making it the perfect time for a Guild performance!
Beginning in October, we'll gather to rehearse a shadow puppet adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's The Cask of Amontillado, along with other eerie tales. As a group, we'll decide on the performance time and final program for our Halloween horror show.
The Cask of Amontillado tells the chilling story of Montresor, a man who carefully lures his unsuspecting acquaintance, Fortunato, deep into the catacombs with the promise of tasting a rare cask of Amontillado sherry. What begins as a wine tasting becomes one of literature's most unforgettable tales of revenge, betrayal, and murder.
The Guild is fortunate to have a beautiful set of shadow puppets, along with a script and storyboard, generously donated by Linda Stief. We're looking for Guild members to help bring this production to life. It may—or may not—include the return of Randy Knickers!
We're especially looking for:
Puppeteers
Musicians and sound artists
Narrators
Shadow puppet operators
Anyone who enjoys spooky storytelling
Let's celebrate the haunting season by exploring Poe's gothic imagination—death, mystery, murder... and, of course, the sweet taste of Amontillado.
We'd love to have you join the fun!
