Great news - due to ongoing demand, the Irvington Home Tour has been extended through Sunday, December 19th! You can still take advantage of this opportunity to see 8 historic homes while also knowing that your donations help support neighborhood schools, including Irvington, Sabin, Alameda, Beaumont, Tubman, Jefferson, and Grant! If you have children at any of these schools, please donate knowing your school benefits from the Irvington Community Association’s charitable giving program. Proceeds from the tour also benefit local nonprofits helping seniors and people with disabilities.

For previous donors who did not have the opportunity to make it through all eight homes, you now have additional time to see the homes you may have missed or go back and visit the homes a second time. Happy holidays and happy virtual touring!

The Irvington Home Tour has been supporting local schools, non-profits, and community programs since 1967. On this Giving Tuesday, please consider logging in to the Tour and making a tax-deductible donation.

Each year the historic home tour raises critical funds for the Irvington Community Association’s Charitable Giving Program. Your participation in this event supports local schools and non-profits throughout Northeast Portland.

A Tradition of Charitable Giving

Over the years, the Irvington Home Tour has raised more than $400,000 in support of children and seniors throughout the community. Grants have gone to many local schools, including Irvington Elementary School, PPS Alameda Elementary School, Beverly Cleary K-8 School, and Sabine Elementary School, to Harriet Tubman Middle School and Beaumont Middle School, and PPS Grant High School and Jefferson High School, Portland, Oregon. Donations to local non-profits such as Metropolitan Family Services, Kinship House, Meals on Wheels People, Home Forward, and Ride Connection target programs for seniors and those with disabilities. In support of the youngest in our community, grants have also been made to Northeast Community Childhood Development Center, Hancock Street Preschool, and Irvington Cooperative Preschool.

Supporting local schools, non-profits, and community programs since 1967

For 50+ years the Irvington Home Tour has been opening doors to our past, present, and future, giving participants an inside look at homes in the Irvington National Historic District, the largest such district in Oregon and one of largest in the country.

The twist this year, after a two-year Covid-driven hiatus, is that the tour is entirely virtual, shifting from a one-day event in May to a month-long opportunity to engage throughout November. The re-imagined tour is completely online, centered on a dedicated website of stunning photos, engaging videos, and lively stories. No umbrellas, shoe booties, or stamina needed! Tour-goers can log in from anywhere on their mobile phones, tablets, or laptops (for the best viewing experience larger screens are recommended).

As it has for 50+ years, the Irvington Historic District Home Tour will be raising crucial funds supporting local schools and nonprofits. The twist this year, after a two-year Covid-driven hiatus, is that it will be entirely virtual, shifting from a one-day event in May to a month-long opportunity to engage throughout November.

The tour via the Irvington Community Association has given more than $400,000 in grants through the decades, with particular focus on groups serving youth and seniors.

Examples of schools benefiting include Irvington Elementary School for inclusive storybooks, Harriet Tubman Middle School for student activities, Grant High School for the senior all-night party; and three neighborhood preschools for tuition support.

Agencies that have received grants include Meals on Wheels People for nutrition and socializing, Project Linkage for transportation for seniors, and Grace Peck Terrace and Dahlke Manor public housing for the creation and sustaining of a footcare clinic.

The tour will be completely online, centered on a dedicated website of stunning photographs, engaging videos, and lively stories. No umbrellas, shoe booties, or stamina needed this time! Tour-goers can log in from anywhere on their mobile phones, tablets, or laptops. To experience the tour, visit: www.irvingtonpdx.com/home-tour between Nov. 1 and Nov. 30.
