Rebel Student Spotlight! Meet Chris! Two years ago, Chris began rebuilding his life through recovery from alcohol addiction. As he looked toward his future, he decided earning his GED would be the first step toward a new career.

Since connecting with TRA, he has passed Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies and is currently receiving tutoring in math.

When he shared his goal of becoming an American Sign Language interpreter, our team helped him explore the career pathway, complete the FAFSA, and begin the enrollment process at Portland Community College.

Today, he is officially a PCC Panther while he completes his last GED test and moving closer to a future he once only hoped was possible.

His story is a powerful reminder of what can happen when determination is met with encouragement, opportunity, and support.

YOU CAN HELP CHRIS FINISH HIS GED by buying COFFEE! Please consider a purchase to fund his test fee and the fees for other students like him on the journey to better lives. L!nk below!!!

At age 16, Reginald Dwayne Betts was sentenced to nine years in prison. He turned to books to help hold onto his sanity — and developed a belief that we find what we look for, even in the toughest places.
