Merry Christmas Main Streets! Portland’s iconic streetcar main streets are packed with small mom and pop shops, great local restaurants, pubs, vintage theaters and classic multifamily housing, providing a mix of authentic localism we keep coming back to. Shaped by our streetcars, they are filled with wonderful artful historic architecture, and their diversity of offerings have something for everyone. Our unique main streets define Portland’s close-in residential and commercial pattern areas, providing “third spaces” for locals, a draw for tourism, and make 20-minute walkable neighborhoods possible.
