Blue Latitudes Foundation The Blue Latitudes Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes.

We elevate the traditional concept of ocean stewardship by uniting government, industry and the community. The ecosystems found on oil and gas platforms are unique microcosms of life. Found offshore, in a blue ocean setting, these structures offer shelter to passing seal lions and dolphins, a nursery ground for endangered species of rockfish and a permanent residence to electric pink anemones and

scallops the size of tennis balls. Each beam and column provides a habitat for life, and completely removing just one of these structures would result in the death of an ecosystem, home to hundreds of species and thousands of individuals.

The ocean still surprises us.

Every dive, every tide, every hidden corner reminds us how wild, wonderful, and unexplored our blue planet remains.

From tiny creatures to epic migrations, every wave carries a story worth protecting.

Happy . 💙

Three epic days spent filming in 360° for an upcoming Virtual Ocean Expedition story on the alewife migration up Maine’s Presumpscot River. 🐟

These little fish may not look like superheroes, but their comeback is one of New England’s great conservation success stories—and they’ve become local legends around Portland, Maine.

A massive thank you to for helping make this project possible. The Presumpscot Regional Land Trust team was instrumental every step of the way, helping us navigate permits, secure access to key locations, coordinate timing around the migration, understand regulations, and share their deep knowledge of the river and its restoration. Their support and enthusiasm made this project possible.

And huge thanks to and Jurek for the filming, drone flights, tech support, problem-solving, and for being willing to jump into whatever conditions the river threw at us.

Now comes the hard part: waiting to see it all come together. We can’t wait to share this one.
