A message for all of our followers here on Facebook:

As of July 1, 2026 we will be rolling out a new Facebook Group page for PCC Retirees. The new group will be a 'by invitation' group so watch your page for the invitation in the coming days. (A blue button will appear just below your banner photo.)

There will be a few questions to be admitted (to keep out spammers, phishers, and other misanthropes of the social media world) and a few simple rules for the new group. But for the first time in more than a decade we'll have more than one moderator and we hope the page will be more active and informative for you.

Come join us for our final events of the 2025-26 year this week:

At Walter Mitty’s Restaurant, no RSVP required. (Our July/August selection will be: Immortal Irishman by Timothy Egan. Our discussion in August will kick of the new academic year cycle of activities.)

Wednesday, June 24th, 1:00 p.m. Monthly Planning Session. Open to all, come join us and help shape the future of your organization. No RSVP needed — at Walter Mitty’s Restaurant.

Friday, June 26th, 3:00 p.m. Second Annual Portland Spirit Happy Hour Cruise! Our group tickets for this event are Sold Out! Looking forward to seeing some two dozen retirees and a few family/friends this Friday.

For our Facebook followers: Back in February we announced that we were working on creating a new and improved PCC Retiree Network page. The team has made great progress and soon we will be sending invitations to come join us there.

The new group will be a by invitation only group, no longer open to the public although new retirees or others will be able to find it by a simple Facebook search and may request to join but they will have to answer a few simple questions and agree to a short list of group rules to be approved for membership.

So watch for your invitation coming by July 1st. The invitation will appear as a blue button near the top of the page just beneath your cover photo. If you have not received an invitation by July 1st, search for the "Portland Community College Retiree Network 2026" and request to join or message us here and let us know.

Retiree Network Calendar of Events - June 2026

Wednesday, June 10th, 2026, 1:00 p.m. Happy Lunch at Pho Hung (4717 SE Powell Blvd., Portland 97206) In our continued effort to find new and interesting lunch spots, this month we’re heading to the SE Powell Blvd location of this small Portland chain of Vietnamese restaurants. We will want to make a table reservation, so please RSVP by Monday, June 8th, by reply email or use the comment box below. Unlike last month’s venue, this one has ample parking. Please come join us for our last Happy Lunch until fall!

Wednesday, June 24th, 11:30 a.m. Pinot & Prose Book Club. Come join us for the discussion of our selection of the month: The Narrow Road to the Deep North by Richard Flanagan. At Walter Mitty’s Restaurant, no RSVP required. (Our July/August selection will be: Immortal Irishman by Timothy Egan.)

Wednesday, June 24th, 1:00 p.m. Monthly Planning Session. Open to all, come join us and help shape the future of your organization. No RSVP needed -- at Walter Mitty’s Restaurant.

Friday, June 26th, 3:00 p.m. Second Annual Portland Spirit Happy Hour Cruise! (https://www.portlandspirit.com/cruise/happy-hour-sightseeing/ ) This event was enjoyed with unanimous positive reviews last year when more than two dozen retirees and friends gathered for a fun late afternoon socializing and seeing Portland from a different angle – from the river most of us just cross on bridges. And of course, there’s a bistro and bar on board at Happy Hour prices.

We have arranged a group rate of $30 per person for a Happy Hour sightseeing cruise aboard the Portland Spirit. The ship leaves from the Salmon Springs dock (1010 S.W. Naito Parkway) promptly at 3:30, so we’re asking those joining us to arrive no later than 3:00 p.m. so that we can ensure everyone has their tickets in hand as we board.

We already have a dozen signed up this year, but there is plenty of space and time to sign-up for this cruise at the group rate. Invite a friend or family (adults – it is a happy hour cruise) to come along. We will pre-purchase tickets to get the group rate, so we will need your RSVP by Tuesday, June 16th. You can reserve your seats by replying to this email or if viewing this on our website or page send an email to [email protected].
