A Special Retiree Network Event coming in June!

Friday, June 26th, 3:00-5:00 p.m. Second Annual Portland Spirit Happy Hour Cruise! This event was enjoyed with unanimous positive reviews last year when more than two dozen retirees and friends, gathered for a fun late afternoon socializing and seeing Portland from a different angle – from the river most of us just cross on bridges. And of course, there’s a bistro and bar on board at Happy Hour prices.

We already have about ten signed up this year, but there is plenty of space and time to sign-up for this cruise at the group rate. Invite a friend or family (adults – it is a happy hour cruise) to come along. We will pre-purchase tickets to get the group rate, so we will need your RSVP by Tuesday, June 16th. You can reserve your seats by replying to this email or if viewing this on our website or page send an email to [email protected].

We have arranged a group rate of $30 per person for a Happy Hour cruise aboard the Portland Spirit ( https://www.portlandspirit.com/ ). The ship leaves from the Salmon Springs dock (1010 S.W. Naito Parkway) promptly at 3:30, so we’re asking those joining us to arrive by 3:00 p.m. so that we can ensure everyone has their tickets in hand as we board.

Note: If you are looking at their website, the Happy Hour cruise doesn’t appear until after June 1st.

Operating a fleet of four boats for public and private events, Portland Spirit offers year-round dining and sightseeing cruises — an experience unlike anything else in Portland, Oregon!

Reminder - Birding this week - RSVP requested.

With the better weather this week it's time to get outdoors! We are on for the birding outing at Oaks Bottom on Wednesday with our guide Fern Wexler.

We inadvertently omitted a request for RSVP's from our prior messages. We would like to know who to look for as we gather at 9:00 a.m. at the trailhead parking area at SE Milwaukee at SE Mitchell St.

Gary Lesniak is coordinating this event for the Retiree Network and would appreciate hearing by text or phone call from those planning to attend. His number is 503-307-3008.

For those who have never been there before, here is more information about Oaks Bottom from the Portland Parks website
https://www.portland.gov/parks/oaks-bottom-wildlife-refuge .

"Tucked on the east bank of the Willamette River, Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge is a natural area in Southeast Portland. Spanning 163 acres, its home to over 175 species of birds, including bald eagles, peregrine falcons, and red-tailed hawks. You'll also find river otters, beavers, and even deer roaming the landscape."
