The Oregon Marathi Mandal (OMM) is dedicated to the celebration of the culture and heritage of the Indian state of Maharashtra. OMM brings together people from all over the Pacific Northwest who are interested in the language, culture, and traditions that are specific to Maharashtra. OMM has presented plays and concerts, lectures, debates, celebrations of Hindu and Indian holidays, as well as picn
ics and children's talent shows. We are a non-profit charitable organization serving the local community in the Greater Portland Area since the year 1995. We are also a part of the Bruhan Maharashtra Mandal, an organization that serves to nurture and promote Marathi culture across USA and Canada. Our activities include:
Culture/Tradition
We celebrate many Maharashtrian and Indian traditional holidays such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali - Indian festival of lights, Gudi Padwa - New Year according to the lunar calendar, Makar Sankrant and so on. Theater/Music/Art
We presents plays, lectures and debates in Marathi, which is the language of Maharashtra. We also presents many classical and folk concerts in the northern Indian or Hindustani style. Community/giving
We organize picnics and community get-togethers as a platform for people of the local community to interact socially. Participating in local fundraising or volunteer activity is our way of giving back to the community.
