Singtime Frolics is held in late March near Portland, OR. 2019 will be the 6th year at Menucha Retreat and Conference Center, Corbett, OR Singtime Frolics 2014β€”Singtime's 30th anniversaryβ€”will be held at Menucha Conference and Retreat Center in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge east of Portland, OR, near Corbett, OR. This year's guest artist is Val Rogersβ€” musical seeker, ateacher, connector, & p

assionate organizer working to expand the enrich the community singing experience. She has led community and church choirs for 15 years, and toured professionally with the vocal ensemble Northern Harmony, performing and teaching South African music in Europe. In Val's workshops, Celebrate with Southern African Dance-Songs! you will learn choral folk songs from South Africa and Zimbabwe with integrated rhythmic movement. This music comes from the culture that sang their way to victory over apartheid. With dynamic call and response forms, rock-solid harmonies, exciting rhythms, messages of power and liberation, movement that unifies the group, it celebrates life in a compelling way!

Come join a hundred other folk singing enthusiasts for an inspiring and relaxing weekend of homemade and participatory music: singing, jamming, learning and sharing.

--workshops, song circles all day Saturday and Sunday morning,

--participants' concert Saturday evening,

Northwest icon Linda Allen, songwriter, researcher, activist, and performer par excellence will be our guest artist, leading two workshops, Singing the News, and Voices of Compassion, as well as presenting a short concert of songs from her two new recordings, Into the Promise of Morning and Singing the News.
