Este día conmemoramos el Día Internacional de los Afrodescendientes, una conmemoración más que necesaria para visibilizar la herencia cultural e histórica de estas comunidades.

Se eligió esta fecha debido a que el 31 de agosto, de 1920, se llevó a cabo la Primera Convención Internacional de los Pueblos Negros del Mundo, en la ciudad de Nueva York.
