Union of Maine Visual Artists

Union of Maine Visual Artists UMVA artists value what can be achieved through collective efforts.

The UMVA is a nonprofit arts organization representing visual artists throughout Maine and is dedicated to upholding the dignity of all artists while creating positive social change through art. As artists we recognize that our connection with the world forms the core of all art-making processes. We welcome the opportunity to share our knowledge with each other in this spirit of cooperation.

UMVA Artists are showcased in this summer issue of the MAJ. In a collaboration with the UMVA Portland Gallery, UMVA artists addressed the theme "In Balance/Imbalance" showing their work in the MAJ and Gallery at the same time. Please check out all three sections of the Showcase which are arranged alphabetically. There were so many artists participating we couldn't fit them in one post! Also make sure to see the actual exhibit opening Friday July 7 at 516 Congress Street. See you there!
