It’s time for the Duniway annual fall giving campaign. Please take a moment to donate at www.duniway.schoolauction.net/2021campaign/give before November 12th. This is one of the primary ways we raise money for Duniway teaching positions not funded by PPS. This year we are funding Educational Assistants for every grade level plus the Media Specialist, a part-time Math/STEM specialist and part of a PE position. Any contribution, at whatever level possible, makes a difference in the quality of your child’s education. You can find more information, including videos of your EAs, on the Duniway Foundation site.

The Annual Campaign is wrapping up in the coming days. Of course, it is never too late to make your donation!

Thanks to those of you who have donated and thanks to our Foundation Board and Campaign Chairs for their hard work.

We will soon announce the final count on participation and money raised.

The Duniway Foundation raises much-needed dollars to fund teaching positions at Duniway and all Portland Public Schools.

Thank you so much for turning in all those green envelopes and making this year's Annual Campaign a big success! Thanks to your support, we had 68% of envelopes returned and raised more than $71,000 for teaching positions not covered by Portland Public Schools and additional educational enrichment programs at Duniway.

Today we brought things to a sweet end—the classrooms with the most participation were welcomed to the cafeteria to chow down on bowls of ice cream topped with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, AND sprinkles. Congrats to the kiddos in Clawson, IverNewt, Robb, Mildenberger, Cudjoe, and Levine's rooms!

The Annual Campaign continues! On Tuesday we hit our goal of 25% of envelopes returned and were rewarded with seeing Principal Goldstein dressed up as a fantastic Dumbledore on Halloween!

As of Friday morning, 33% of the envelopes have been returned. THANK YOU for your support and participation—we’re about halfway to our $80,000 goal so please keep those envelopes coming or simply donate online at www.duniwayelementary.com/give.

REMEMBER: One class from each grade level with the most participation will receive an ice cream party. Here are the leading classrooms as of Friday morning, with one week to go:
- Kindergarten: IT’S A TIE! Hewitt and Clawson both have 46.15% of envelopes returned
- 1st: Iverson/Newton with 51.85% of envelopes returned
- 2nd: Robb with 56.52% of envelopes returned
- 3rd: Mildenberger with 45.83% of envelopes returned
- 4th: Cudjoe with 34.62% of envelopes returned (but Chasse is a very close second!)
- 5th: Cavillo with 53.57% of envelopes returned

Need an envelope? If you didn’t receive a green envelope last week, they are available in the office. A donation at www.duniwayelementary.com/give also counts as participating.

Annual Campaign donations are starting to come in and we genuinely appreciate everyone who has taken the time to give via check, cash, or at www.duniwayelementary.com/give!

DON'T MISS THIS: Overall school participation currently stands at 13.19%. If we can get it to 25% by next Tuesday, our very own Mr. Goldstein has *promised* he'll dress up for Halloween. Turn in those envelopes if you want to see Duniway's headmaster in a very special costume!

Remember, any contribution, at whatever level possible, makes a difference in the quality of your child’s education! We encourage every family to contribute, as these programs benefit all Duniway students.

The Annual Campaign launched today! You should have received a bright green envelope in your child’s backpack today—please look for tomorrow if you haven’t seen it yet.

The Annual Campaign is one of two major Foundation fundraisers that raise money for Duniway teaching positions not covered by Portland Public Schools and for additional educational enrichment programs. Here’s how you can get involved:

- Please complete the green envelope provided whether you choose to donate now or not—you don’t have to donate, but we would like every family to participate by turning in their envelope during the 3-week campaign.
- You can donate online at www.duniwayelementary.com/give or by check made payable to “Duniway Foundation.”
- One class from each grade level with the most participation will receive an ice cream party.

Our goal is to raise $80,000 during this year’s Annual Campaign. We can hit this goal if everyone donated $175 per student, or $20 a month per student. Any contribution, at whatever level possible, makes a difference in the quality of your child’s education! We encourage every family to contribute, as these programs benefit all Duniway students.

If you didn’t receive a green envelope this week, they are available in the main Duniway hall near the auditorium, or just donate online at www.duniwayelementary.com/give. We sincerely thank you for your support!

Letter from the Presidents

Dear Duniway Families and Friends:

Wow, 2017-2018 was an unprecedented year for the Foundation’s fundraising efforts. Due to the time, talent and funds this community provided in addition to a one-time donation from a private foundation, we raised just over $300,000 last year. With these funds, Principal Goldstein was able to hire the equivalent of 3 full-ti me teaching positions and plans to pilot a STEM scienti st-in-residence program for grades 2-5 this Spring.

Class size guidance from PPS has gotten larger at every grade and these funds are critical to ensuring our classes sizes stay reasonable and for funding Educational Assistants that can help provide more individualized attention to kids across the learning spectrum. 100% of what the Foundation funds are for staff and programs that would not have been funded by PPS.

We are consistently amazed at the support and generosity of this community and appreciate the feedback on the fundraising efforts and funding priorities either directly to the board or through our annual survey. Please continue to provide feedback and input!
