Yesterday, we hosted our P2P Solar Event ☀️ at Meyer Memorial Trust — and we’re grateful to everyone who attended and engaged in the conversation around solar access and energy equity.

A special thank you to Jim Steiner of Sunbridge Solar for facilitating an insightful solar Q&A and sharing clear, practical guidance with our community.

We also appreciate Meyer Memorial Trust for providing a welcoming space for this important dialogue and celebration of Black History.

The Homeownership Asset Preservation Program (HAPP) is a free estate planning service offered by the African American Alliance for Homeownership in partnership with The Commons Law Center. HAPP estate plans are a powerful tool for building generational wealth, combating gentrification, and providing families with peace of mind and security. Over the past five years, HAPP has provided more than 100 estate plans.

Since its inception, this program has been sponsored by the City of Portland Housing Bureau but while inquiries for our services have more than doubled, funding has remained the same.

With January coming to a close and Black History Month hot on its heels, we wanted to thank World Arts Foundation Inc. for hosting Keep Alive the Dream on MLK Day and inviting the entire AAAH team to celebrate.

Our founder and Executive Director, Cheryl, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award as part of this year’s program, alongside an inspiring group of women whose work reflects community leadership, empowerment, and a lasting commitment to the success of Black Oregonians.
