Aging Artfully Initiative The Aging Artfully Initiative (AAI) is a collaborative group of community leaders and elder activists in Portland, Oregon.

The Aging Artfully Initiative (AAI) is a collaborative group of community leaders and elder activists in Portland, Oregon, who seek to form a multigenerational, multidisciplinary, and multicultural community of caring people focused on integrating the processes of aging and creativity. Core Values

The goal of AAI is to establish a physical, mixed-use residential center for the arts, an educational institute, and a network of friends and allies who provide services to one another and the wider community. Seminars, workshops, events, and services, provided by our expert allies, will strengthen the cultural and financial resources that are essential to all artists, musicians, and other creative elders. AAI's vision includes:

● sharing our joy about vibrancy and aging through media, visual arts, and
festivals that highlight artistic achievement
● building housing for elders
● providing administrative and business incubator services and marketing
support to artists
● presenting lectures and workshops
● offering creative elders a co-location work space
● creating a mobile art and personal history recording studio
● operating an on-site elder-centered performing arts center and cafe

Toward these ends, we are developing relationships with individuals, nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies that foster our mission and encourage a spirit of collaboration in all that we do.

In my humble opinion, we Baby Boomers have no real legacy except one of massive amounts of unfinished business. Our legacy can be how we supported future generations in their quest to reshape the world rather than how we let them down.

We have a golden opportunity to seize the initiative and provide perspective, context, and lived experience to those in later generations truly committed to systemic and sustainable change.

And we need to recognize when it’s time to lead, follow, and simply make way without the “Been There Done That” or “Know It All” attitudes that we’re known for. Our time is passing quickly and the torch is out of our hands now.

We hope to see you at the upcoming community premiere on September 27 of No Place to Grow Old, the new documentary produced by www.humansforhousing.org The film explores the growing crisis of adult senior homelessness in Portland by focusing
