For 18 years, the Chicas afterschool program run by Adelante Mujeres at 28 schools in Washington County, has been a haven for young Latino girls - a space apart from their daily lives where they feel safe to learn and grow. It was a busy weekend for Gray Family Foundation! We spent Saturday with the amazing youth participating in this year’s hatfieldfutures. Teams of youth from across the state worked together to dream and share their innovative solutions for challenges facing their communities. We then headed south to the Rogue Valley to the The Crest at Willow-Witt for the Crest Fest and to celebrate the work The Crest at Willow-Witt is doing to connect Southern Oregon youth to nature. During the fest, AllCare Health honored The Crest at Willow-Witt with a generous donation highlighting the important role access to nature can play in supporting the health of youth and families.

Spent the day visiting with the amazing staff at Anahuac walking around their farm and learning about their youth and family workshops, Tequios, mobile clinics, and herbal remedy distributions to their community. We then headed south for a visit with Marys River Watershed Council where youth interns were collecting water DNA samples and documenting macro invertebrates in Oak Creek on the OSU campus. It was a beautiful day and a privilege to get to see some of our awesome grantees in their elements! Plus we got to meet some tiny baby sculpin and a huge stone fly larva ✌️✨❤️

What a great convening! Gray Family Foundation enjoyed meaningful discussion
and engagement with our Youth Leadership for the Environment cohort in Bend, Oregon. During this 2 1/2 day gathering, we had the opportunity to learn more about trauma informed care, and cultural agility. We also heard from a wonderful panel of youth doing great things throughout Oregon. We are so proud and the work this cohort continues to do to develop great youth leaders in our environmental spaces!

First Foods class is an instrumental (and fun!) part of Salem-Keizer Public Schools Native Education Program. On Cultural Enrichment nights, Native students and their families learn how to prepare foods such as sunflower cookies from an Indigenous chef using Oregon ingredients! Gray Family Foundation is excited to support the NEP program where students learn about Indigenous foods, harvest traditions, and nutritional and medicinal value of local foods.
