Go Big For Hunger was founded in spring 2016 by life-long Mainer and live music madman, Greg Martens. He was inspired by Imagine There’s No Hunger, a global campaign created to realize John Lennon’s vision for a world with without hunger. Following the lead of Yoko Ono, Jerry Garcia Foundation and Hard Rock Cafe, Martens decided to implement his creative, local-level solution to fight childhood hu

nger in Maine, where currently nearly 1 in 4 children are food insecure.* Using his ties to the restaurant community, Martens decided to invite owners to join the “Go Big” campaign by adding a line to guest checks, inviting customers to add $2 or more to the bill. This simple step lets everyone participate in surrounding more kids with the nutritious food they need to learn and thrive. Go Big For Hunger is an all-volunteer effort, 100% of every donation goes directly to supporting frontline feeding of kids and building the network that’s required to sustain the fight against childhood hunger.
