Lordy lordy....I love hearing about the experiences people have. I especially love when its told with this mixture of raw emotion, disbelief and a loss for any rational explanation. The tale went something like this:
A Maine guide set out for a fishing trip on some pond off the beaten trail. He wanted to be in a remote place, away from anyone else. The fishing was nice and he was thinking it was about time to head in. Undecided if he would camp out that night or just head back home, he wanted enough light to set up his tent if he was staying. As he started to paddle back to shore, he hears this loud crash. He looks to shore and sees a very large person standing in the shadows watching him. He calls out but gets no reply. A crash across the pond draws his attention behind him. There is an even larger figure watching him from the shadows. He alters his course and paddles fast to get to where the canoe should be put away. Within seconds the black figure is crashing through the woods 100 yrds ahead of him. An impossible distance for any creature to cover in that short amount of time.
Feeling like things are not what they seem, he makes a decision to just paddle like heck to the shore and run for it. He makes it to shore, hauls the canoe out and grabs his stuff. He is running to the car as fast as he can.....the crashing sounds were enormous! His heart is beating in his chest, he feels this has to be a bear and he cannot outrun it. He drops his stuff, spins around as he draws his pistol...........all sounds stop! He is now on the ground, trying to catch his breath. He realizes he can now hear the birds and the leaves ruffling in the trees, a squirrel scampers by. Shaken beyond rational thought, he gets in his car and drives away.
When asked if he got a good look at facial features...he says no, just huge, black, bipedal, hairy creatures. Bigfoot.....Dogman.......either way, if it was a real flesh and blood creature......wouldn't it have kept its charge on and we would be hearing a very different story?
