It’s simple, but it’s not small.
It can look like noticing your breath, feeling your feet on the ground, or bringing awareness to something familiar like making your coffee. These moments remind your nervous system that you are here, that you are safe enough, that you don’t have to get carried away by every thought or feeling.
We use grounding because it’s accessible.
You don’t need the perfect environment or a long window of time.
You just need a moment of willingness to come back to your body.
And over time, those small moments start to build something steady within you.

Speak Out is a ministry that started as a dream several years ago. Since November 2017, Lauren Bennion has started to walk towards that dream. She is now partnered with Mike Wilson and Danny Hazen. Together they hope to provide trainings for Church leaders and conferences for the Church body that shatter the stigma of Mental Illness. They hope to do this by providing practical tools in helping individuals who are struggling with a mental illness, equipping leaders with basic tools and helping to bring awareness and ultimately shifting how mental illnesses are viewed in the Church and beyond. Their overarching dream is to bridge the gap between the professional mental health field and the Church.
Over the last several months, Lauren has spoken at different church events and connected with several churches in the Portland area. As we move forward in developing curriculum and providing trainings we hope to also legally become a non-profit. In order to do this, we need to raise $2000 for the fees that go into this as well as another couple thousand for classes and trainings in order to provide the best curriculum.
