Royal Rosarians were a part of the Honor Guard for the Rose Planting at The Springs at Sherwood. We Honored Royal Rosarians living at The Springs, Helen Benscheidt (103) and Florence Olsen (99). We also honored the Founder/Owner of The Springs and the Royal Gardener's Father, who lives at the Springs at Sherwood.

We had a virtual rose planting inside the Lakeside Resort due to the air quality for the ceremony this morning. Kelly, Ron and Larry had a chance to get the Rose, Queen Elizabeth into its new location inside the Penticton Rose Garden mid afternoon.

Penticton Peach Festival Cancels Saturday Activities in Support of Emergency Response Efforts

PENTICTON, B.C. – August 8, 2026 – Penticton Peach Festival will cancel all programming activities for Saturday, August 8, as our region continues to respond to the ongoing wildfire situation.

We are currently facing an evolving situation with a level of uncertainty that is beyond our control. What remains firmly within our control is our commitment to putting the safety, unity and best interests of Penticton and our surrounding communities first.

Peach Festival has always been about bringing people together and creating positive moments for our community. In the spirit of PeachFest, it has become clear that today cannot be about continuing as usual. Instead, it is a day to recognize the extraordinary circumstances facing our region, support emergency response efforts, and rally around those who have been impacted or displaced by the current evacuations.

The Peach Festival family will spend today supporting our community and emergency operations wherever we can be of assistance.

We understand the disappointment that comes with cancelling a day of festival activities. PeachFest is an annual tradition that residents and visitors look forward to all year, and these are not decisions we take lightly. We are incredibly grateful for the understanding, flexibility and compassion being shown as our community prioritizes what matters most right now.

We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as circumstances evolve. We all want to see PeachFest continue, but only when doing so can positively contribute to our community and does not interfere with the important work taking place around us.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the firefighters, first responders, emergency personnel, volunteers and everyone working tirelessly to protect and support our region.

DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY MARKET CANCELLED – SATURDAY, AUGUST 8

Out of an abundance of caution and in support of the ongoing emergency response to the current wildfire situation, the Downtown Penticton BIA has been advised to cancel today’s Downtown Community Market.

Keeping our downtown roadways open and clear is a priority to ensure emergency services have the access they need and to avoid placing any additional pressure on our community during this time.

Our thoughts are with everyone who has been impacted, particularly those who have been evacuated or are facing uncertainty, and we extend our sincere appreciation to the firefighters, emergency personnel and support crews working to keep our community safe.

Thank you to our vendors, downtown businesses, residents and visitors for your understanding and cooperation.

Penticton Peach Festival Cancels Bannister Peach n’ Beach Parade in Support of Emergency Response Efforts.

The Penticton Peach Festival has cancelled the Bannister Penticton Peach n’ Beach Parade on Saturday, August 8, due to the current fire situation. The festival prioritizes community safety and emergency responder's needs. The parade requires significant road closures, which could hinder emergency service's access. While disappointed, the festival believes keeping transportation and emergency response routes open is crucial. All other venues and programming will remain open as planned. The festival will monitor the situation and communicate any changes through social media. Community gatherings provide connection and normalcy during challenging times. The festival aims to offer a welcoming place for families and community members to enjoy free programming Shooting Star Amusements will offer discounted ride wristbands. The festival extends its thoughts to those affected by the fire and the firefighters, emergency personnel, volunteers, and agencies working to protect the community.

We thank Bannister Penticton, parade participants, volunteers, partners, sponsors, and the public for their understanding and support. Cancelling the Bannister Peach n’ Beach Parade was a difficult decision.

Penticton Peach Festival will continue working with partners and monitoring conditions.

Portland’s Hyatt Regency Hotel is hosting a group of convention organizers who book and plan large conferences. The Hyatt is bringing these folks into town to show off Portland as a potential location for future conferences.

Our greeting was suppose to be in the International Rose Test Garden but due to the smoke and high heat the greeting was done downtown at the Portland Art Museum.
