Did you know there are only 24 affordable homes available for every 100 people who need one in Oregon? Did you know that since 2020, public investment created 3,026 affordable homes and rental assistance kept 21,000 households off the street in the tri-county region?

We have the solutions but we need to invest at the scale of the need. More homes at every price point. More lower-cost homes preserved. More support to stay housed when rent rises faster than what people earn. None of that happens without continued public investment.

đź“° Honored to be featured by Willamette Week

This story highlights the incredible young people behind No Ceilings, an original song and animated music video created through workshops at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility.

As someone formerly incarcerated as both a youth and an adult, this work is deeply personal to me. It’s proof that when we invest in young people, they can transform pain into purpose.

Join us on Saturday, July 11 as we premiere No Ceilings and celebrate these youth voices. I’ll be performing alongside Mic Crenshaw , Libretto , Kap-One Kapone, Tvbby, and more, with a live cypher led by Swiggle Mandela & Machado Mijiga & Santiago LaRochelle

🎟️ Help us fill the theater and support these young people. Purchase tickets through my Linktree.

If you can’t make it, sharing this post is another way to help amplify these youth voices. ❤️

10 years ago, Outside the Frame filmed Democracy Now!'s Amy Goodman at a fundraiser for KBOO Community Radio and got a shoutout about our upcoming gala. The first one. It is auspicious that we got to meet her again this weekend, after our 10th anniversary gala, at a screening of Steal This Story, Please at Cinema 21. It is playing there through May 7th. See it and get inspired!

We couldn't resist sharing another round of applause for Haven Wheelock and her award by Outside the Frame at its "We Could Be Heroes" event Thursday, celebrating 10 years of innovative filmmaking by youth who also often participate with Outside In programs. "It is such an honor that they are shouting me out on the anniversary of a decade of great work!" Haven said. OTF Executive Director Nili Yosha welcomed the nearly 400 people packing Hollywood Theatre, and OTF Board President John Duke, a former OI clinic director, presented the harm reduction superhero award. Congratulations, Haven, for continuing to conduct, and inspire, lifesaving work!
