Empowerteen Tween and Teen Holistic Wellness Program

Empowerteen is Social-Mental-Physical-Emotional wellness and prevention program for adolescents to prevent personal and societal conditions in a way that relieves stress and encourages fun! We give teenaged girls and boys skills to develop a powerful awareness of strength in self, and tools to become happy, healthy, integrated and productive members of society. Topics covered in the program includ

e building self-confidence, positive self-talk, effective communication, cultivating healthy relationships and conflict resolution skills, increasing body image, nutrition, disconnecting from technology to connect mind to body, developing mindfulness, empathy, living with gratitude and purpose, and rising above self-disserving labels. Lessons are cultivated using the latest understanding and research in biology, sociology, biochemistry, neurology, endocrinology, quantum physics, anatomy, physiology, psychology, and other behavioral sciences as tools to develop these skills. These tools are developed to help give teens the opportunity to build and create their future, connect to each other and their community with loving kindness, and prevent or manage many of the mental challenges adolescents face, such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, attention fatigue, inability to focus, fear of missing out, suicidal ideation, self-harm, addiction, toxic relationships, abuse, and the search for their sense of belonging. The Empowerteen program is led by Naturopathic Doctor, and former High School teacher and Teen Group Home counselor, Dr. Paula Pilcher, and has thus far taken on different avenues of exploring and practicing these skills including a once-a-week 8 week series, a semester-long daily High School class curriculum for health credit, week-long intensive summer retreats, an after school program, weekend workshops, socials, field-trips, guest-speaking at multiple venues, internships, charity events and volunteer opportunities.

📝"Generative AI is everywhere. Anything you can imagine can now be generated using AI tools– images for posters, plans for businesses, even videos with premises wild that they go viral within days. Some estimates say that 71% of new social media posts utilize generative AI in some way or another.

Considering how much time people spend online, this means that exposure to it has increased dramatically– and as what it generates grows more and more convincing, many are worried about how the rise of this technology will impact their careers.

An important distinction to draw in the criticism of generative AI comes from the words themselves– the term “generative” is crucial, as there are many types of artificial intelligence that existed far before our current crisis. The AI that allows an NPC (non-playable character) in a video game to decide its next action is not equivalent to the image and text generation that ChatGPT is capable of. Similarly, not all generative AI is equivalent.

Defenders of the tool often cite articles about generative AI being used to find a cure for cancer and other noble deeds. I believe that those are..."

👏 We are honored to introduce our Creative Design student intern for 2026, Paige Coderre! Paige created the new designs, logos, colors, and fonts for the 2026 theme, along with the super trendy t-shirts and merch for this summer's retreats! Get to know her more:

What’s Your Background?

“I am an artist and student from the Bay Area. I have always been passionate about creating, learning, and exploring. I especially appreciate the ability to use creation and art to contribute to community building and to advocate for those around me. I find joy in continuously experimenting with different mediums, textures, and subjects. Through this, I've discovered different ways to convey meanings and communicate with others.”

What Else Do You Do?

“I am a third year student at UC Berkeley and study Fine Arts. In my free time I create art to support my community, including work such as flyers and patches to fundraise and spread messages for causes I believe in.”

Meet the rest of the team on our website!
