Hello Facebook BV family -
I am Heidi and am the current board chair for Bridging voices, as well as sing with PGMC. Bridging Voces performance this weekend was absolutely amazing and I’m not surprised because those youth are absolutely amazing!!
Bridging voices has so far been an entirely grant run organization with very few incoming monthly donations. At this point, Bridging voices is facing a financial crisis and we need our community to keep Bridging voices open and showing up for these youth. To put some numbers to it with our highest outgoing budget lines:
If we can get 50 community members to donate just $20 a month, this would pay our amazing chorus manager’s salary. As chorus manager what Maia does for the youth is indescribable…they show up to every rehearsal and show and make sure the youth are happy, checked in on, fed, feel safe, and have a face they know loves them for who they are the second they walk in the door. They also organize social events, plan for our outreach events, leads our youth leadership team, and organize all the timelines for tech rehearsals and shows from the youth logistics side.
If we can get 100 community members to donate just $20 a month we can pay our amazing artistic directors salary! What DeReau does for the youth is also beyond compare. He also make sure that the youth walk into a familiar smiling face who they know they are safe with just for being who they are every week and every performance. DeReau not only directs the choir, but he plans and does all production aspects and performance logistics, he chooses music with guidance and voice from the youth, leads rehearsals, shares stories and support, and has started teaching the youth basics of music to give them more confidence and skills.
If 200 community members donate just $20 a month we can expand our reaches and promote our organization to reach youth from all over the area, continue to provide meals every weekend during rehearsal, continue to offer our safe space and community to all youth at no charge.
If we can get some collaboration of the good $20 from 350 would do, we can continue to keep our organization open, fully staffed, accessible, and available to ALL q***r and ally youth, AS WELL as keep our executive director position which has been invaluable (Lyndsey has secured us a free rehearsal Space indefinitely, a free concert venue, developed spaces in new areas to reach new groups of youth on the west side, and has been building growing relationships with other nonprofit and q***r organizations throughout the metro area!!!)
Please share and use the link below to set up monthly donations, or do a one time donation to help keep us running and thriving!
Also if you are interested in serving on our board we are in need of good people, but especially needing some skills of prior board activity and board leadership, finance knowledge, fundraising, and donor relations. Reach out to me if you are interested: [email protected]
Thank you, Heidi
