👁️ Programs and Gallery Manager led an amazing God's Eye workshop at the ParkRose village. We collaborate with WeShine to teach arts workshops in their transitional shelter villages around the city.

🧵 This traditional craft, Si’kuli (Huichol), or Ojo de Dios (Spanish), or God’s Eye, is made by weaving colorful yard around wooden sticks as a tool for prayer and protection. Originating with the Huichol and Tepehuan peoples of Mexico and the Aymara of Bolivia, it symbolizes the power to see and understand unseen things.

👋 Are you a people person with high energy? Do you have experience in the arts? Do you love teaching and social justice and live in Portland? If so, we're looking for you!

🎨 Gather:Make:Shelter is hiring for our Studio Coordinator & Workshop Instructor Position! This part-time position will play a crucial role in managing Gather:Make:Shelter’s art workshops, mural projects, and studio space. The role will involve project management, participant mentorship, and studio organization. You will collaborate on implementing current programs, while visioning and planning future programs and workshops. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching art and knowledge of social services, with a genuine interest in creating positive experiences for our participants. The ideal candidate should be interested in learning and applying trauma-informed practices during their interactions with workshop participants.
