What could up to $200,000 make possible for families in Clackamas County? 🤍

For The Family Room, it could mean reopening our doors in Clackamas County, bringing back Family Time visits, and growing our team with the addition of a Program Manager.

These aren’t just program expansions. They’re opportunities to create more space for families to connect, access support, and spend meaningful time together.

We’re honored to be one of five regional finalists for the Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Award—and we’re asking our community to help us take the next step.

A BIG moment for The Family Room. 🤍

Earlier this spring, Brian Davis, owner/operator of the Clackamas Chick-fil-A, nominated The Family Room for the Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Award.

And now, we have some incredible news:
Out of 3,000+ applications, The Family Room has been selected as one of the TOP FIVE regional finalists for the West Region! 🎉

That means we’re already guaranteed a $35,000 grant, with the opportunity to receive up to $200,000 to help make even more possible for the families and community we serve.

And now, we’re asking our community to rally with us. ❤️

September 1–30, you can vote for The Family Room through the Chick-fil-A app. Your vote is one part of the overall scoring that determines the final grant award amount.

One hour can matter. But for a family working to reconnect, it can also feel like so little.

In Oregon, the child welfare system is generally able to provide just 1 hour per week of supervised family time.

Family Room was created to help change what’s possible.

Through warm, welcoming spaces and extended opportunities for family time, we help parents and children experiencing foster care spend meaningful time together, sharing meals, practicing everyday parenting, playing, talking, and rebuilding trust.

Because bringing families home takes more than a moment. It takes time, connection, and a community willing to make that time possible. 🧡

Every week, Family Room volunteers help create a warm, welcoming environment where children and parents impacted by foster care can spend meaningful time together.

Sometimes that looks like setting out toys, brewing a pot of coffee, preparing a meal, or greeting families as they arrive. Simple acts of hospitality help create spaces where relationships can grow and healing can begin.

Do you have a few hours, a caring presence, and an appreciation for a good checklist? You might be a great fit for The Family Room.

Volunteers serve in 2–3 hour shifts on Mondays and Wednesdays between 1:00–6:00 p.m. at our SE Portland location.

Curious about volunteering? Join our next virtual Volunteer Information Session on Friday, August 7 at noon to learn more, ask questions, and get a feel for what volunteering at The Family Room looks like.
