Dysphoric dreams-what causes them?

Weird dreams are often the result of psychological stress or changes in a daily routine.

There is no escape from grief stress, we can’t pretend it’s not there.

Grief is a physical reaction like being startled but has an emotional elemental to it.

Emotions are controllable to a degree, but it’s a mistake to think we can simply ignore the physical response to grief which can manifest in our dream time.

Living in the midst of a pandemic has taken a toll on our collective psyche in many unexpected ways.

We may feel in charge of what life throws at us during the day, but find drifting off to sleep and staying asleep for 6-8 hours nearly impossible.

Experiencing dysphoric dreams can be super unpleasant which begs the question—

How do I reduce my chances of having unsettling vivid dreams?

Key: reduce your exposure to stress triggers a few hours before bed.

An easy tip:
-put your phone in your nightstand drawer or a special box next to your bed.
Unplugging your brain from news, and social media takes commitment and will power.

You can do it!

“I’ve got a new walk” ~Mahbuda
Her reply when you asked her “how are you today?”

A passion we shared in common was our love for walking labyrinths.

One of my favorite aspects of Friday night dance was the walk. To walk slow or fast, with purpose or with glee. To catch a glimpse of another and hug or hold hands. And then to join hands together in circle to begin the dances.

These photos capture a day trip to Breitenbush October 2010 a road trip adventure!
The turning of the vine maples painting the landscape red and yellow.
A perfect sunny scenic drive up to the mountains to visit Jamshed’s grave.

To sit and honor his life in Remembrance.

To walk Breitenbush’s labyrinth and experience the magic of 1,000’s of ladybugs cover us and the ground around us as we sat next to the river. I was creeped out, never have I seen such a large concentration... Mahbuda was delighted as they crawled all over us.

To eat a yummy lunch, sauna and soak.

To return home to Portland restored.

Today the 25th of April 2021 is liberation day in Italy. Writing from bed, this memory feels like yesterday but 11 years have passed.

Liberation day-
A day to remember freedom from fascist oppression and N**i occupation.
I honor Mahbuda, and her liberation!

Good cheer Beloveds!

Q: How many Unitarians does it take to change a light bulb?
A: We choose not to make a statement either in favour of or against the need for a light bulb. However, if in your own journey, you have found that light bulbs work for you, that is wonderful. You are invited to write a poem or compose a modern dance about your personal relationship with your light bulb. Present it next month at our annual Light Bulb Sunday Service, in which we will explore a number of light bulb traditions, including incandescent, fluorescent, 3-way, long-life, and tinted, all of which are equally valid paths to luminescence.
