Soul River Inc. - Runs Wild Connecting veterans and inner-city youth to wild rivers using fly fishing as our foundation, integrating life skills on our epic, wilderness explorations.

Mission -
We connect inner city youth and US military veterans to the outdoors through incredible outdoor educational transformation experiences. By engaging U.S veterans as mentors for inner city youth, we believe that rich, powerful opportunities of healing authentically happen in the midst of Mother Nature. We believe that by connecting youth and veterans to our public lands, wild rivers and fresh waters, and beyond through genuine community, we will ultimately establish and inspire a new generation of outdoor leader ambassadors that will advocate for Mother Nature and conservation. Hey everyone. I want to introduce a new series of workshops that will happen monthly and be year round. It's called Steel and Feathers-Fly tying. Fly fishing is a staple of SRI as it helps us heal in nature and identify environmental concerns. Attendance is open to student youth and adults alike. Space is limited so get-in-where-you-fit-in!

I began working as a volunteer instructor with Oregon Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) in 2020. During that time, I’ve also served as a r***e and sh***un coach. After a long wait, I finally get the chance to serve as an adult r***e instructor later in the year. If you know calibers, we’ll train folks on 6.5mm Creedmoor systems out to 800 yards. Let’s go.

Hello to everyone! my name is Winter (yes, that is my real name) and I am the program manager for Soul River and Love is King. I hesitate to say “new” because I’ve been part of SRI for 4 years, as a board member (working in the background) and now as the PM.

I‘m a 8-year Naval nuclear operator veteran. I wasn’t born doing things in the outdoors. I‘m a bit of a late bloomer. My journey began in 2015, while I was a micro-chip researcher for Intel corp.

During the last 11-years, a lot has happened to bring me here to SRI. I’ve served as an archery, hunting, fishing, and fi****ms instructor for the department of Oregon Fish and Wildlife. I also currently sit on the Oregon State Board of Fishing Restoration and Enhancement. So, when it comes to the outdoors, cooking and/or smoking food, I’m you man.
