You used to chase me around our home, to and from the bedroom.
You’d call and tell me You loved me.
I was different, I wasn't the social-lite like you. Though, we never left well enough alone and one day I left from home, leaving it all behind.
As You passed me while I walked away, in my eyes You heard me say
"One of these days you're gonna love me
You'll sit down by yourself and think
About the times you pushed and shoved me
And what good boyfriends we might've been
And then you're gonna sigh a little
Maybe even cry a little but
One of these days you're gonna love me"
I was a small town boy in a big city, You took one look at me and had to pull me to You.
Lord knows I should've seen right through you. But when You promised me the world
But You wanted one thing, I couldn’t give.
Innocent tears in the pourin' rain
As I walked away
And You still see me in your dreams
And to this day You’re whispering
"One of these days I’m gonna love him
You'll sit down by yourself and think
About the time you turned from me
And what good boyfriends we might've been
And then you're gonna sigh a little
Maybe even cry a little but
One of these days I’m gonna love him"
Now everybody stands up when the congregation sings because It's a song of sweet love and forgiveness, then the chorus rings out loud.
The mountain winds blow clear my memory causing the pages start to turn then You’re suddenly singin' because it’s the moment that You learn
One of these days I'm gonna love him, I’ll feel the joy of sweet true love
One of these days, I'll rise above the darkness
And at last I'll find some inner peace
Then I'm gonna smile a little
Maybe even laugh some but
One of these days I'm gonna love me again.
