Hello Newman will wind down the concert season on the Eastern Prom this Thursday, Aug 27 at 6 pm. For inquiring minds who want to know, here’s some more info on the band:

Back in 2009, founding member Derek Johnson had a vision to create a band that played the music he grew up listening to on WCYY and MTV. One Craigslist ad later, combined with an alignment of the planets, four visionaries met up for a rehearsal. The juggernaut 'Hello Newman' was born.

They are 'That '90s Band' you vaguely remember from your best nights out in Maine. Having played over 1000 shows, more than half of which were at Bull Feeney's (R.I.P.!) in Portland's Old Port, the guys have refined a quintessentially '90s-Rock live show that is second to no other in the Northeast. Their repertoire has been carefully curated through the years, thanks to the energy displayed by the band's organically grown and extremely enthusiastic fanbase, known affectionately as 'Newmanators'.

Quick reminder: please join us today — Thursday, Aug 20 — for our weekly free concert near the bandstand on the Eastern Prom featuring Misspent Youth. The concert starts at 6 pm, food trucks arrive at 5 pm.

Misspent Youth is known for its classic rock tunes, mastered by five guys old enough to remember when it wasn’t! You might have seen them at Lennys, the Porthole, and other local venues.

For food trucks, those scheduled to attend include Alabama BBQ, Bowlicious, Eighty 8 Donuts (yes, donuts!), and Coastal Creamery. Hope to see you there!
