Bridging the gap between cops and communities

Mutual trust.

It is a crucial piece between the police and their community to maintain public safety. Willingness of a community member to trust the police depends on how they feel the actions of the police reflect the true values of their city. How does the police department get to know the area they work to protect? That’s where we come in.

Face-to-Face Portland is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that identifies and builds avenues for successful face-to-face relationships between police officers and the community.

Our current program, Liaison Family Program, pairs families and individuals with the new hires to show them around Portland, be there as a listening ear and as a friend. As the trust with these individual relationship grows, so will the mutual trust between policemen and our entire community. We connect new hires of the Portland Police Bureau with families in the Portland community with the intention of providing the home-away-from-home emotional support and friendship needed to settle into a new area.
