What does mental health awareness mean to you?

For Erika, it’s about helping people feel seen.

As a Lead Residential Care Worker, Erika spends her days building meaningful relationships with clients, supporting them through challenges and celebrating their successes. She believes mental health awareness is about more than diagnoses or statistics — it’s about creating understanding, reducing stigma and reminding people that struggling is part of being human.

“The most rewarding part of my work is advocating for people who may struggle to advocate for themselves,” she says. “Sometimes healing does not begin with medication or treatment plans. Sometimes healing begins the moment someone finally feels seen.”

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re grateful for team members like Erika who bring compassion, connection and hope to the people they serve every day. 💙

For nearly 30 years — including 12 at Spring Harbor — Mia has helped patients find hope during some of the hardest moments of their lives. 💙

“If we can give them the smallest little bit of hope, that’s all they need to take the next step,” she said.

Mia says even small moments can make a lasting impact. “Sometimes it’s as small as just sitting in the room and hearing someone’s story.”

We are so proud of this dedicated group for participating in the American Heart Association Heart Walk yesterday! ❤️👟

Our team was one of 52 teams walking as part of the broader MaineHealth/Maine Medical Center effort, helping raise more than $52,000 to support lifesaving research, CPR education, and heart health initiatives.

Every walker who joins and every dollar donated helps create more lifesaving moments for everyone. Thank you to our incredible team for showing up, taking action, and helping make a difference in our community!

Working alongside dietitians and medical providers, she helps patients feel healthier, more comfortable and supported.
