What happens when you combine an NFL legend, an afternoon on the golf course, and an excited group of Club kids? You get what many of our members are calling the “best day ever!”
Earlier this week, members from all Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine clubhouses had the extraordinary opportunity to participate in Bank of America’s Golf With Us program alongside former New England Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower. While they learned golf fundamentals and sharpened their skills on the course, they also gained something even more valuable; life lessons about hard work, perseverance, confidence, and leadership.
We’re also excited that Bank of America is helping make the game more accessible by offering our members a free one-year membership through Youth on Course, providing access to rounds of golf for $5 or less at golf courses around the state.
We are deeply grateful to Bank of America and Dont’a Hightower for inviting us to be part of this unforgettable experience. The time he spent with each of our members, sharing personal stories, words of encouragement, and advice for the future, made a lasting impact. We couldn’t have asked for a better role model.

Today, we're celebrating our BGCSM Portland Clubhouse Class of 2026 graduates! We are so proud of each and every one of you and all that you've accomplished. It's been amazing to watch you grow, overcome challenges, chase your goals and become the incredible young adults you are today. As you head off to whatever comes next, just remember the Club will always be your family. No matter where life takes you, you'll always have a place here, and we can't wait to welcome you back to hear about all the adventures, successes, and experiences life has in store for you.

We are incredibly grateful to Unum for its transformational $1 million investment in Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine and our Bridge to Success program. This extraordinary gift will support a building expansion that will become home to our Bridge to Success initiatives, creating dedicated space to significantly expand opportunities for our teen members as they explore career pathways, develop workforce skills, gain hands-on experiences, and prepare for what lies ahead.

For generations, Unum has been a steadfast partner in our mission, investing in young people and helping ensure they have the support, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed. We are honored to continue building on this remarkable partnership and the impact it has on the youth we serve.

DAY 6 – SOUTHERN MAINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Bridge to Success had a wonderful trip to Southern Maine Community College!
Seven of our members toured the campus, learned more about academic opportunities from admissions staff, and enjoyed lunch together in the dining hall.
These experiences continue to help our members build confidence, explore career and education pathways, and prepare for life after high school.
